EDUCATION
STEM MOVEMENT
What is STEM Education
 is an approach in education in which
Science, Technology, Engineering, Math are
integrated with focusing education process
on solving problems in real daily life as well
as in professional life
 STEM Education shows to the students how
concepts, principles, techniques of science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM)
are used integratedly to develop product,
process, and systems that beneficial for
human life.
NATURE OF STEM EDUCATION

is the integration of Science, Technology,

Engineering, and Mathematics into a new trans-
disciplinary subject in schools

offers a chance for students to make sense of

the world rather than learn isolated bits and
pieces of phenomena

seeks to create 21st Century learning

opportunities
Goals for Students OUTCOMES

STEM LITERACY
STEM Literacy refers to an individual’s :
 Knowledge, attitudes, and skills to identify questions and
problems in life situations, explain the natural and
designed world, and draw evidence-based conclusions
about STEM related-issues;
 Understanding of the characteristic features of STEM
disciplines as forms of human knowledge, inquiry, and
design;
 Awareness of how STEM disciplines shape our material,
intellectual, and cultural environments; and
 Willingness to engage in STEM-related issues and with the
ideas of science, technology, engineering , and
mathematics as a constructive, concerned, and reflective
citizen.

The Process of STEM Project
Based Learning
(1) • The purpose of the first stage is to ground the student in the problem’s
context and to provide inspiration for things the student can immediately
Reflection begin to investigate

(2) • The second stage can take the form of student research, teacher-led
lessons in science, selected readings, or other methods to gather relevant
Research information and sources

• The discovery stage generally involves bridging the research and

(3) information that is known with the project’s requirements. Students begin
to take ownership of the learning process and determine what is still
Discovery unknown

• In the application stage the goal is to model a solution that sufficiently

(4) solves the problem. In some cases, students test the model against
requirements, the results of which direct the students to repeat a
Application previous step

• The final stage in any project is presenting the model and solution to
(5) peers and community. This is a critical step because of the desire to
develop both communication and collaboration skills and the ability to
Communication accept and implement constructive feedback
CONCLUSION
 STEM Education is an approach in education in which
Science, Technology, Engineering, Math are integrated with
focusing education process on solving problems in real daily
life as well as in professional life
 In science learning, STEM Education can be used with science
as a core subject, supported by engineering, technology and
Math.
 In Science learning, STEM approach can be combined with
Project based learning
 STEM Education leads student to achieve the 21st century
