 Seed Production
Production of genetically pure and good quality seed is an
exacting task.
The production areas are taken up based on quantity indent
given by the marketing department.
NSL is having different locations for production of different
crops.
To maintain the secrecy and safety of parental lines, separate
production codes are allocated and the same are changed season
to season. Seed production is carried out by way of own and
contract farming.
The foundation seed is supplied by the company at a fixed cost.

Field Production:
NSL is the country's largest seed producer.

Today, about 1,00,000 loyal seed growers across India partner

with NSL in producing seeds of world-class quality.

NSL maintains a symbiotic relationship with farmers, by helping

them produce high-yielding seeds with seed growers.

Seed production is carried out by way of own and contract

farming.

 Seed Procurement
The Company fix the minimum guaranteed procurement
price as agreed at the time of organizing seed production.

The procurement of the seed lots are subjected for testing

and the same shall conform to minimum quality standards.

The final procurement price shall be fixed once the seeds

are received at the plants of the company and after passing
through all required standard quality parameters.

 Seed Processing
In seed processing, the physical parameters are
improved.

The seed is conditioned to retain its inherent quality

parameters (Germination, G.P.) and improve physical
parameters.

Physical impurities such as undersize and light seeds are

removed.

The moisture is brought to the right level.

Total processing machinery capacity of more than 142 TPH.

State-of-the-art processing plants in Kompally, Kottur, Nandigam, Kalakal, Tukkulur,

Chinakondrupadu, Vijayarai in Andhra Pradesh, Gadchiroli , Akola & Aurangabad in
Maharastra; Rudrapur in Uttaranchal; Idar in Gujarat ;and Bargarh in Orissa.

6,25,640 Sft. of storage space at various locations in India.

3250 MT/Batch capacity cob drying unit at Kottur & 1000MT/Batch at Vijayarai.

10 completely automated packing lines with an output capacity of 20

packets/min/line.

NSL exclusively uses the conditioned godowns of Mandava Cold Storage Pvt. Ltd.,
Kompally and Gas Delinting plant of GDCCL at Kallakal, both near Hyderabad, NSL
recently inaugurated its first integrated plant of cotton in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

Quality Policy - NSL ensures supply of seeds with excellent quality parameters
so that the farmers get expected yields and maximize their profitability.
Keeping total quality management in view, Seeds are passed through two
major quality assessment tests i.e. STL and GOT.

 Certifications- ISTA Accredited Laboratory
NSL at Kompally was accredited by the International Seed Testing
Association (ISTA) in 2006, having the infrastructure as per ISTA
specifications.

it's the 6th ISTA accredited laboratory in India with the capacity to test
each and every seed sample as per ISTA procedures before placing them
in the market.

Parallel soil testing of the seeds are done at the field level by 'actual
planting in the land', ensuring zero lapses. Each seed lot is tested at least
3-4 times to avoid any errors.

The state-of-the-art ERP package enables data storage of any number

of seed tests.

Conditioned Storage:
Our conditioned storage facility ensure that seeds are stored for long periods
without loss of viability and vigour at temperatures of approximately 15°C
(with variable of 1%) and at Relative Humidity levels of approximately 40%
(with variance of 3%) maintained constantly by using air conditioning and
dehumidification equipment. It is supporting by 100% power back up.

The requirement of packing material is worked out in advance based on
marketing projections and seed production program.

Packing material will be procured well in advance for timely supply of

packed seed to the market.

Designing and related aspects are decided on the basis of seed rules,
storability & present ability.

Seed packing is carried out considering the following aspects.

a. Seed Rules (quantity of seed required for planting an acre)

b. Seed storability
c. Present ability in the market

 Seed packing is governed by

a. Labeling as per the Seed Rules.
b. Packaging Act (Weights & Measures)
c. Consumer Protection Act

Label on the seed packet contains the information about the quality
parameters, lot number and a unique label number.

NSL owns 10 completely automated packing lines with an output capacity of

20 packets /min/line.

 Logistics Management
Logistics team ensures that the seeds are placed in the market at the
right place and the right time.

Buffer stocks are maintained to overcome unexpected shortages in

production and unexpected rise in demand.

To facilitate timely distribution of seeds, NSL maintains seed distribution

 Handling of Returns
The seeds as long as they are at the company’s processing plants storage
godowns or distribution godowns are maintained in the best possible
conditions however similar conditions may not prevail at the stock points
maintained by the seed distributors.

Efforts are made to take back the unsold seeds as early as possible.

 Inspect them on receipt back at the company’s processing plants

thoroughly for any damages, storage insect infestation etc and all the good
seed lots are transferred back into the conditioned go downs.

Utmost care had taken place for ensuring the quality assurance.
