Margin
To format page margins
1. Select the Page
Layout tab.
2. Click
the Margins comm
and. A menu of
options
appears. Normal is
selected by
default.
3. Click
the predefined
margin size you
want.

To use custom margins
1. From the Page
Layout tab,
click Margins.
2. Select Custom
Margins. This will
take you to
the Page
Setup dialog box.
3. Adjust the margin
sizes for each side
of the page, then
click OK.

Orientation
To change page
orientation
1. Select the Page Layout tab.
2. Click
the Orientation command in
the Page Setup group.
3. Click
either Portrait or Landscape t
o change the page
orientation.
4. Landscape format means the
page is oriented horizontally,
while portrait format means it
is oriented vertically.

the Page Setup dialog

Size
To change page size
1. Select the Page
Layout tab.
2. Click the Size command,
and a drop-down menu
will appear. The current
page size is highlighted.
3. Click the size option you
want. The page size of
the document changes.

Column
To add columns to a
document
1. Select the text you
want to format.
2. Click the Page
Layout tab.
3. Click
the Columns comman
d. A drop-down menu
will appear.
4. Select the number of
columns you want to
insert. The text will then
format into columns.

Indent
To create or adjust a first-line
indent or hanging indent
1. Place the insertion
point anywhere in the
paragraph you want to
indent, or select one or
more paragraphs.
2. To adjust the first-line indent,
drag the first-line indent
marker on the ruler.
3. To adjust the hanging
indent, drag the hanging
indent marker.
4. To move both markers at
the same time, drag the left
indent marker. This will
indent all lines in the
paragraph.

Spacing
To format line spacing
1. Click the Line and
Paragraph
Spacing command on
the Home tab.
2. Select Add Space
Before
Paragraph or Remove
Space After Paragraph
from the drop-down
menu.

To format line spacing
3. From the drop-down
menu, you can also
select Line Spacing
Options to open the
Paragraph dialog box.
From here, you can
control exactly how
much space there
is before and after the
paragraph.

Saving
To save as a PDF
1. Click the File tab.
2. Select Save As.
3. In the Save as
type drop-down
menu, select PDF.
4. Select the
location where
you want to save
the document.
5. Enter a name for
the document.
6. Click
the Save button.

Addition
Change the ruler
measurements
Need to measure your
document in centimeters, not
inches? You can change your
ruler to centimeters, picas,
points, or pixels, along with
inches.

Click File > Options > Advanced


and scroll to the Display settings.
Look for Show measurements in
units of, and change the units.
