A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND
ENGINEERING SCIENCE BUILDING WITH THE APPLICATION OF
SIX SIGMA CONCEPTS IN CONSTRUCTION PREPARED BY: SHIENA P. VERGARA BSCE 4-1 INTRODUCTION Several management strategies have evolved in many organizations in order to ensure performance improvement. Six Sigma has been identified as one of such strategies that has received attention in performance improvement due to the immense benefits associated to it. Six Sigma is a quantitative approach for improvement with the major objective being elimination of defects from any process. Six Sigma is reportedly easier to apply than any other quality management programs because it provides information about the change needed and the programs required to execute the change. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The construction industry is not keeping pace with the world’s
development. This is due to the high incidence of project delivery. Several researches have ascribed various reasons for poor performance ranging from poor management practices through client dissatisfaction to improper practices by contractors. The challenge of poor performance in the construction industry lasted for a long period of time despite the efforts to overcome them. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
In order to address this challenge, there is a need to revisit
the causes of poor performance and propose measures to address them. The need to identify the problems and dissatisfaction of the users of the building may result to the possible solutions and elimination of defects from any process. OBJECTIVES To identify the problems caused by the building that A affects its users
To meet the quality standards and customer satisfaction
B by implementing Six Sigma Concepts
To identify the impact of defects, their root causes
C and;
D To propose ways to reduce the problems and defects

SCOPE AND LIMITATION This study will focus on determining the defects and its root causes of the Department of Information Technology and Engineering Science building of Cavite State University – Indang Campus. The method used on this research will be an assessment sheet which includes the tiling work and internal finishing work of the building. The basic theory of Six Sigma will be used, its D principles and methodology. DMAIC (Define, Measure, Improve, D
Control), a five-step improvement process, will be adopted to
improve the quality of the existing process. An interview will also be conducted with the students using the Department of Information Technology and Engineering Science building. D D Thank you This text can be replaced with your own text
