CONDOMINIUM

COMPLEX

DENNIS Q. LUGO
BS-ARCHITECTURE 04
The Problem
“Climate change is the most serious and the
most pervasive threat facing humanity today.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC), the highest scientific body
responsible for evaluating risk of climate
change, affirmed in its Fourth Assessment
Report that the “warming of the earth’s
climate system is equivocal” and that this
warming is attributed to the dramatic rise in
human induced green house gas emissions
since the mid 20th-Century.”
National Framework on Climate Change
National Issues
 Changes Annual Mean Temperature
The countries annual mean temperature is projected to
increase by 0.9 -1.2 degree Celsius by 2020 and 1.7-3.0
degree Celsius by 2050.
 Changes Annual Mean Rainfall
The PRECIS simulation exercise projects in change in
annual precipitation from -0.5 to 17.4 % in 2020 and -2.4 to
16.4% in 2050. Average annual rainfall increase over most
parts of Luzon and Visayas is expected to be 2 to 17% by
2020 and 1 to 16% by 2050. in contrast, there is a general
reduction in annual average rainfall in Mindanao(0.5 to
11% by 2020; 2 to 11% by 2050)
National Framework on Climate Change
Rationale:
 The study will be connected in the National
framework on Climate Change to design an
innovative resilient housing for the Filipinos. It will
develop communities are resilient and
empowered by giving birth of a living house to be
an asset of the nation to the millennium issue of
climate change. The prospect is to make a
community which is a life sustaining home from its
architectural, structural, water supply facilities and
electrical aspect to survive from the risk of climate
change. The study envisions a climate risk resilient
community with healthy, safety, self-reliant
communities, productive ecosystem, and
simultaneously grow the economic development
in renewable source of energy through the
concept of photosynthesis and biomass.
Definition of Terms
 Biomass
- a plant material and animal waste used as a source of fuel.
 Biofuel
- a fuel (such as wood or ethanol) composed of or produced from biological
raw materials.
 Climate Change

 Condominium Complex

 Hydrogen
- a nonmetallic element that is the simplest and lightest of the elements, is
normally a colorless odorless highly flammable diatomic gas, and is used
especially in synthesis.
 Photosynthesis
- synthesis of chemical compounds with the aid of radiant energy, formation
of carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and a source of hydrogen in the
chlorophyll-containing cells exposed to light.
Main Problem:
How can Photosynthesis and biomass collection
develop communities into a life sustaining and resilient
houses?
 How can the biomass collection and photosynthetic processes
be applied to produce energy needs(electrical energy, etc.)?
-To develop/adapt tools and devices for the implication of
photosynthesis and biomass collection.
 How can the Condominium Complex acts as a host to the
processes(Photosynthesis and Biomass Collection)?
- to know the ways In developing a resilient housing communities.
 What factors are presently being undertaken to reduce climate
risk in existing building?
- To document factors that have been tested in the past.
 What have these measures resulted in?
- to simplify through the elimination of some factors from the
equation.
Objectives

 Tobuild an atmosphere composition in

balance by promoting renewable aid
and self-sustaining symbiotic system of
architectural possibilities of green living.

 Toprovide and economical solution for

alternative energy
