Organizations and Institutions are usually considered
synonymous. However , it should be emphasized that the two are different.
An Organization refers to a formally constituted entity,
composed of individuals performing a set of functions for the achievement of a certain mandate, obligation, or task. Organization can be considered as state and non state organizations. Example of Organization Bank- a financial organization licensed to received deposits and make loans. Corporation- is a business entity that is owned by its shareholders, who elect a board of directors to oversee the organization’s activities. Development agency- a business or organization established to provide a particular service, typically one that involves organizing transactions between two other parties. ORGANIZATION AND INSTITUTION Institution refers to a structured domain of norms, rules, and practice that gives a sense of order to a specific set of relationship. Most of the relevant institutions are those that are based on the community and are embedded in community practices , and operate in the everyday lives of the people and not a t the domain of the state The different institutions in society Environmental worldviews-the system of beliefs as well as perceptions of the people vis-à-vis the forest resource (how they see it in relation to their lives. Knowledge Systems-the system of knowledge that governs how the people engage the resource, particularly in terms of the technology employed to extract product from it. It also includes the body information, which is usually traditional in character, used in interacting with resource both as sources of products and services, as well as sources of symbols for their rituals. The different institutions in society Tenurial and property systems-the manner by which the community defines the rules of who has access to and control resources. Conflict management systems-the manner by which the community manages its conflicts vis-à-vis various issues, including conflicts that arise from the use of forest resources. Association systems-the various systems that define the manner individuals establish relationships among them in the pursuance of a common interest, such as production social security.
