m 21 - Fencing of machinery ; Moving part & dangerous parts of machinery &
to be fenced

m 22 - Work on or near machinery in motion ; Work to be done by an adult


worker, wearing light fitting clothes. A separate register to be
maintained.
Women & young person not be employed for cleaning, lubricating such
moving machinery
m 23 - Employment of young persons on dangerous machines. ; Young
person - Child or adolescents (Child- Not Above 15 years &
Adolescents -not more than 18 years) NOT to be employed
unless proper training is given & works under the supervision of Adult
worker

m 24 - Striking gear and devices for cutting off power ; Switches for cutting
power in emergencies to be provided in every work room. Conveyor
Belts , moving machinery etc.

m 25 - Self-acting machines ; A distance of 45 cms to be maintained from any


machinery working on its own to any fixed structure (wall) etc.

m 26 - Casing of new machinery ; Machinery driven by power to be cased in
order to avoid injury & accidents.

m 27 - Prohibition of employment of women and children near cotton-openers ;


Women & Young persons are not to be employed near cotton openers.

m 28 - Hoists and lifts ; Should be of good construction , with gates &


enclosures for protection & maintained every six months. Register
to be maintained.

m 29 - Lifting machines, chains, ropes and lifting tackles ; Cranes & lifting
machinery to be of good construction & every twelve months to be
certified.

m 30 - Revolving machinery ; Machinery speed to be mentioned by NOTICE &


the speeds should not be exceeded.

m 31 - Pressure plant ; Plants working above the atmospheric pressure, the


boilers should not exceed the indicated pressure.

m 32 - Floors, stairs and means of access ; Floors, stairs, passages
are to be maintained so that life & limbs of workers are NOT
injured.

m 33 - Pits, sumps openings in floors, etc should be fenced properly.

m 34 - Excessive weights ; A worker should not be employed to carry


excess weights which causes him injury.

m 35 - Protection of eyes.; Goggles or protective screens to be


provided to eyes where there is risk the eyes.

m 36 - Precautions against dangerous fumes, gases ; Workers NOT to


enter closed space (tanks, chambers, pits) where there is no
proper manhole or proper exhaust.

m 36A - Precautions regarding the use of portable electric light.; Lights


of NOT more than 24 Volts can be used in closed space.

m 37 - Explosive or inflammable dust, gas, etc ; Precautions should be
taken to ensure that No explosion takes place.

m 38 - Precautions in case of fire ; Doors to open outside & means of


escape to be provided in red letters throughout the factory.

m 40 - Safety of buildings and machinery ; Buildings & Machinery to be


safe.

m 40A - Maintenance of buildings ; If Inspector feels that the buildings


require repairs the same has to be done.

m 40B - Safety Officers ; If more than 1000 workers are there then
safety officers are to be appointed.

m 41 - Power to make rules to supplement this Chapter ; State


Government has power to make rules for the safety of workers.
