yang berbeda:

Anterior pituitary
(adenohypophysis)

Sel penghasil hormon protein.

Tdd. Sel bulat, kecil
Acidofilik, basofilik, chromophob

Posterior pituitary
(neurohypophysis)

Tdd. nerve fiber, glia

(akson neuronhypothalamic)
Juga membentuk pituitary stalk
ADH, Oxytocin

 Sel mengandung hormon polypeptide:
Acidophils • Somatotropes € Growth Hormon (25%)
• Lactotropes € Prolactin (30%)

Sel mengandung hormon glycoprotein :

€ Thyroid Stimulating Hormon (TSH)
• Gonadotropes
Basophils € Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
€ Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
• Corticotropes
€ Adrenocorticothropic Hormone (ACTH) (10%)
Due the high carbohydrate content of the hormones within acidophils, they also stain bright
purple with PAS stains.

Hanya sedikit / tidak mengandung hormon.

Sebagian sel bergranul.
Chromophobes Beberapa sel chromophobes berupa stem cells yang tidak
berdiferensiasi menjadi sel penghasil hormon
Letak : di bawah Adam’s apple
(dibagian depan leher)
Tidak terlihat / teraba
Bentuk : seperti kupu-kupu
2 lobus, dihubungkan isthmus
Sekresi hormon tiroid
