INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS BIODIESEL
Biodiesel is a form of diesel fuel manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant greases or used cooking oil and
algae oil . It is safe, biodegradable, and produces less air pollutants than petroleum-based diesel. Biodiesel can be used in its pure
form (B100) or blended with petroleum diesel. Common blends include B2 (2% biodiesel), B5, and B20. This type of fuel burns clean,
which results in a significant reduction of the types.
Nano particles
A Nano fluid is a fluid containing nanometer-sized particles, called nanoparticles. These fluids are engineered colloidal
suspensions of nanoparticles in a base fluid. The nanoparticles used in Nano fluids are typically made of metals, oxides,
carbides, or carbon nanotubes.
LITERATURE SURVEY
National Policy on Biofuels - 2018
Salient Features
• The Policy categorizes biofuels as "Basic Biofuels" viz.
• The Policy expands the scope of raw material for ethanol production by allowing use of Sugarcane Juice, Sugar containing
materials like Sugar Beet, Sweet Sorghum etc.
• Farmers are at a risk of not getting appropriate price for their produce during the surplus production phase. Taking this into
account, the Policy allows use of surplus food grains for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of
National Biofuel Coordination Committee.

Background
• In order to promote biofuels in the country, a National Policy on Biofuels was made by Ministry of New and Renewable
Energy during the year 2009.
• Globally, biofuels have caught the attention in last decade and it is imperative to keep up with the pace of
developments in the field of biofuels.
• Biofuels in India are of strategic importance as it augers well with the ongoing initiatives of the Government such as
Make in India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Skill Development and offers great opportunity to integrate with the ambitious
targets of doubling of Farmers Income, Import Reduction, Employment Generation, Waste to Wealth Creation.
Expected Benefit

• Reduce Import Dependency

• Cleaner Environment
• Health benefits
• MSW Management
• Infrastructural Investment in Rural Areas
• Employment Generation
• Additional Income to Farmers
PRODUCTION TRENDS OF BIODIESEL ACROSS THE WORLD
OBJECTIVE

• The main objective of this project is to enhance the efficiency of biodiesel so that the final extracted biodiesel will be
economical .
• Biodiesel from different seeds will be extracted and their performance and emission characteristics will be obtained and
it will be studied.
• As we know that India imports crude oil .
• Enhancing the performance of biodiesel will help to make it economical which may help to reduce oil import.
• This will also create job opportunities and will benefit farmers .
METHODOLOGY

Extra expenses 2000

Total 12000
EXPECTED OUTCOME

• By the end of this project we are expecting to find methods and sources which will be economical and will produce
biodiesel of high performance and low pollutant emissions.
• Thus it will help to find an alternative for fossil fuels.
