Gloria issued a DECS ORDER in 1997 on
the implementation of a homeroom period
in 40 minutes a per week.
The Homeroom Guidance: ITS MEANING and OBJECTIVES

- a part of the guidance program, this aims to create a thriving student-teacher relation that fails in
an ordinary classroom encounter.
- it affords ample opportunities for the homeroom advisors to discuss problems of students,
interest and other issues of relevance to produce a much better student-teacher interaction.

Homeroom sessions provide guidance on right conduct and good manners. Worthwhile attitudes are
expected to develop.

Teacher’s Role

1. A homeroom teacher has a vital and significant role to plat as an agent of

change in developing personal relationship among his students.

2. It is his task to make each student feel relaxed to be able to relate well in an
atmosphere of free expression.
3. It is he/she who communicates to parents and to significant others in the life
of students who may in turn relate and play a part in this teacher-student
tandem.

The primary purpose of a homeroom session is to create a desirable teacher-student relation. Here are questions
to find out if it serves the purpose.

Log Book and Its Contents

• A log book is a record of procedures on the operation that a counselor prepares serving as
indicator of the activities in line for a certain period of time.
• It contains the date, objective, activities, beneficiaries, and remarks.
