- Salvation means to be saved from

something. Biblically this salvation

means to be saved from death.
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else,
for there is no other name under heaven
given to men by which we must be saved.
A - Admit
Admit what you have done wrong and ask
forgiveness.
Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death.
I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify
us from all unrighteousness.
ADMIT
Admit to God that you are a sinner. All persons need
salvation. Each of us has a problem the Bible calls sin. Sin
is a refusal to acknowledge God's authority over our lives.
Everyone who does not live a life of perfect obedience to
the Lord is guilty of sin. "For all have sinned, and come
short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). Since none of us is
perfect, all of us are sinners (Rom. 3: 10-18).
The result of sin is spiritual death (Rom. 6:23). Spiritual
death means eternal separation from God. By God's perfect
standard we are guilty of sin and therefore subject to the
punishment for sin, which is separation from God.
Admitting you are a sinner and separated from God is the
first step of repentance, which is turning form sin and self
and turning toward God.
B - Believe
Believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again as a
payment for your sins.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Christ died for our sins according
to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He
rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
BELIEVE
Believe in Jesus Christ as God's Son and receive
Jesus` gift of forgiveness from sin. God loves
each of us. God offers us salvation. Although
we have done nothing to deserve His love and
salvation, God wants to save us. In death of
Jesus on the cross, God provided salvation for
all who would repent of their sins and believe
in Jesus, "For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life" (John 3:16).
C - Confess
Confess and choose to allow God to the be in
charge of your life
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth,
“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of
the Lord will be saved.
CONFESS
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord to
others. After you have received Jesus Christ into
your life, share your decision with another person.
Tell your pastor or a Christian friend about your
decision. Following Christ's example, ask for
baptism by immersion in your local church, as a
public expression of you faith. "If thou shalt confess
with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth
unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation" (Rom. 10: 9-10).
AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
In its simplest form, the ABCs of salvation is not the gospel; rather, the acts of admitting,
believing, and confessing (and you might tack on, repenting) are all biblical responses to the
gospel.
This distinction is important. As essential as it is for kids to learn how to glorify God in
responding to the gospel, they cannot do so unless they first rightly hear the message that
prompts a response.
For this reason, LifeWay includes the following in its VBS gospel presentation tools to
supplement the ABCs of salvation:
God rules—The Bible tells us God created everything, including you and me, and He is in
charge of everything. (Genesis 1:1; Revelation 4:11; Colossians 1:16-17)
We sinned—We all choose to disobey God. The Bible calls this sin. Sin separates us from God
and deserves God’s punishment of death. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)
God provided—God sent Jesus, the perfect solution to our sin problem, to rescue us from the
punishment we deserve. It’s something we, as sinners, could never earn on our own. Jesus
alone saves us. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9)
Jesus gives—Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. Because
Jesus gave up His life for us, we can be welcomed into God’s family for eternity. This is the
best gift ever! (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18)
We respond—We can respond to Jesus. The ABCs of Becoming a Christian is a simple tool that
helps us remember how to respond when prompted by the Holy Spirit to receive the gift Jesus
offers.
