Huawei
ONT ALARMS
The dying-gasp of GPON ONT (DGi) is
generated
Description
• When the OLT receives the message that the ONT goes offline, the system generates this
alarm.
Impact on the System
• The services of the ONT are interrupted.
Possible Causes
• The power of the ONT is abnormal or the ONT is shut down.
Procedure
• Check the power supply of the ONT, and ensure that the power supply works in the
normal state. Then, check whether the clear alarm is generated.
• If the clear alarm is generated ONT will be shown green on NMS
• If the clear alarm is not generated ONT will be shown pink on NMS
• Contact Huawei for technical support in case of any issue.
The distribute fiber is broken or the OLT cannot receive
expected optical signals from the ONT(LOSi/LOBi)

Description
• If the OLT fails to receive valid optical signals from the ONT in consecutive
frames, the system generates this alarm.
Impact on the System
• The data channel is abnormal and cannot transmit data in the normal
state. The services of the ONT are interrupted.
Possible Causes
• The fiber is broken.
• The quality of the optical path is poor.
• The ONT hardware fails.
Continue…
Procedure
• Check the optical fiber.
• If the optical fiber is not connected properly, reconnect the optical fiber again
to ensure that the optical fiber is connected correctly and securely.
• If the optical fiber is aged, bent, or damaged, replace the optical fiber.
• If the connector of the optical fiber is not clean, clean the optical fiber.
• If the ONT is abnormal, reset or replace the ONT.
• Check whether the recovery alarm is generated.
• If the recovery alarm is generated, ONT will be shown green on NMS
• If the recovery alarm is not generated, ONT will be shown red on NMS
The loss of frame of ONTi (LOFi) occurs
Description
• If the GPON port receives consecutive invalid delimiters from the ONT, the system generates this alarm.
Impact on the System
• The data channel is abnormal and cannot transmit data. The services of the ONT are interrupted.
Possible Causes
• The optical fiber is faulty.
• The ONT is abnormal.
Procedure
• Check the optical fiber.
• If the optical fiber is not connected properly, reconnect the optical fiber again to ensure that the optical fiber is connected
correctly and securely.
• If the optical fiber is aged, bent, or damaged, replace the optical fiber.
• If the connector of the optical fiber is not clean, clean the optical fiber.
• If the ONT is abnormal, reset or replace the ONT.
The ONT is rogue ONT
Description
• When a board detects that an ONT connected to a certain port on the board is a
rogue ONT, the system generates this alarm
Impact on the System
• The port to which the rogue ONT is connected undergoes packet loss and
deterioration of service quality. In addition, the offline ONTs cannot go online.
Possible Causes
• The optical transceiver of ONT always send signal.
Procedure
• Change the ONT, wait for an ONT auto-found period (ranging from 1s to 10s,
default: 5s) and then check whether the clear alarm is generated.
• If the clear alarm is generated, ONT is green.
• If the clear alarm is not generated, ONT is yellow.
The ONT temperature exceeds the alarm
threshold
Description
• When the ONT temperature is higher than the upper alarm threshold or lower than the lower
alarm threshold, the system generates this alarm.
Impact on the System
• The ONT cannot work properly.
Possible Causes
• The ambient temperature is higher than the upper alarm threshold or lower than the lower alarm
threshold.
• The ONT is abnormal.
Procedure
• Ensure that the ONT works at normal temperatures and in good ventilation conditions. Check
whether the clear alarm is generated.
• ONT will be green in both alarm generation and cleared
• Reset and replace the ONT. Check whether the clear alarm is generated.
