What is ETHICS?
The term 'ethics' can commonly refer to the rules and principles that
define right and wrong conduct of individuals.

Ethical Behavior is accepted as "right" or "good" in the context of a
governing moral code. Ethics can be viewed as a way of behaving
that can be prescribed and imposed by the work environment.

Adequate training, good communication channels and a cooperative
working environment within the hierarchies can help reduce the

Is ETHICS useful in our daily lives?
 Ethics can provide a moral map /framework.

Relation of Ethics with Other Sciences
ETHICS SOCIOLOGY
Study of moral order in the society Study of social order

There is no social order if there is no moral order.

Therefore, the foundation of any society depends on the moral values of people and
their perspective concept of what is good and bad in human relationship.
ETHICS LOGIC
Is the study of correct action or doing. Studies the process of correct and organized thinking

On the other hand, LOGIC focuses on not misleading a person and giving him the correct information.

Therefore, ETHICS focuses on the relationship of people and businesses,


while ECONOMICS focuses the economical gain and their impact to people.

Both plays an important role in developing human welfare.

Ethics and politics both studies human behavior and provides
laws for it.

Ethics studies laws for self actualization while politics made laws to
unit people, organizational development, and secure freedom.
Importance of Ethics in an Organization
 The rewarding of ethical behavior can be a practice organizations can adopt. The
rewards could come in the form of recognition or praise and not necessary money This
can help promote and encourage ethical behavior within the organization.

 Unethical behavior in organizations can be reduced by proper employee selection
during interviews and job positions. Selection may bring greater benefits by helping
managers decide which employees have attributes that will encourage ethical behavior
in the Organization. An employee that has gone through interviews and tests and has
been assessed by higher authority will be less likely to commit unethical acts in an

The application of moral principles, standards of behavior, or set of
values regarding proper conduct in the workplace as individuals and in
a group setting.
Ethics allow you to distinguish the difference between right and wrong.
