Network Design

Prepared by: Pauline Joy Ibasco

What is Network Design?
 Isa category of systems designs that
deals with data transport mechanism.
 As with other systems design disciplines,
network design follows analysis
stage,where requirements are generated
and precedes implemention,where the
system (or the relevant system
component) is constructed.
The objective of network design is
to satisfy data communication
requirements while minimizing
expense.
Requirement scope can vary widely
from one network to another based
on geographic particularities and the
nature of the data requiring
transport.
The Importance of a Network
Design
 When you are mapping out the
network for your business, it can be
tempting to take shortcuts or skip the
planning phase in favor of getting it
online as quickly as possible.
 However, you should keep in mind that
all good networks with a decent level
of security come from good networks
either a decent level of security come
from good network design plans, not
the top of your head.
 Here are some information about the
value of network design plan when it
comes to building IP-based networks!
Why should we use a network design?
 There are only about two categories if
IP internetworks in workplaces across
America-those that are well designed
and thought out and those that have
been pieced together in sections over
time.Networks that arise from network
design plans are typically better in
many different areas.
1.Network Design Allow for Better
Performance
 Good networks work quickly and a network
design plan allows you to ensure that your
network performs with a consistently high
kevel performance.
 You will notice a difference in application
response time and the range of reaction
time across computers in your network
when you have a network design plan that
is properly implemented.
2.Network Design Allow for Scalability

 Good network design also allow for

scalability without the need for a total
redesign. Keep in mind additional
computers, potential new
applications, and an increased number
of users when creating your network
design plan and when the time comes
you won’t be starting from square one
again!
Another info. For Network Design
 Itmay be conducted at an inter-
organizational, organizational, or
department level.
 The requirements generated during the
analysis may therefore define an inter-
network connecting two or more
organizations, an enterprise network that
connects the departmens of a single
organization, or departamental network to
be designed around specific divisional
needs.
That’s all…
