1. Explain how urine is produced.

Urine is produced by filtration units called Nephron. There are three processes involved. The first
process is Ultra Filtration. In this process, the bowman’s capsule contains glomerulus which is supplied
with blood capillaries. All the nutrients are observed back to the blood. The filtrate in the Bowman’s
capsule is sent to the tubular part of the nephron where the nutrients like glucose, amino acids, salt
are re-absorbed and a major amount of water is absorbed. This process is called Tubular
Reabsorption. This goes into the collecting duct through the Henle's Loop. The collection duct collects
the urine. This process is called Tubular Secretion. Then the urine goes to the urinary bladder via
ureter.
2. State how concentration of Auxin stimulates the cells to grow longer on the side of the shoot
which is away from the light.
Auxin is a plant hormone synthesised at the shoot tip which helps the cells to grow longer. When light
is coming to one side of the plant, auxin diffuses into the shady part of the plant. This concentration of
auxin stimulates the cells to grow longer on the side of the shoot away from the sun.
3. What are STDs? Why are contraceptive methods adopted?
STDS are sexually transmitted diseases. Since sexual act is a very intimate connection of bodies. Many
diseases can be sexually transmitted. Contraceptive methods are adopted to avoid unwanted
pregnancy, to create gap between two children and to balance the population.
