• Definition of Asking Giving Suggestion
Asking and Giving Suggestion are English phrases used
to express how to ask and give advice to others. (Asking
and Giving Suggestion adalah Ungkapan-ungkapan dalam Bahasa
Inggris yang digunakan untuk mengekspresikan bagaimana cara
meminta dan memberi saran kepada oranglain.)

.1. Asking Suggestion (Meminta Saran)
What should I do? (Apa yang haru aku lakukan?)
Do you have any ideas? (Apakah kamu mempunyai ide?)
Do you have any suggestions for me? (Apakah kamu mempunyai saran untukku
?)
Can you tell me what I should do? (Bisakah kamu katakan apa yang harus aku la
kukan)
Do you have any advice for me? (Apakah kamu punya nasihat untukku?)
Will you give me some suggestion, please? (Maukah kamu memberikanku beber
apa saran?)
Any idea? (ada ide?)
Can you give me some advice about…? (Dapatkah kamu memberikanku bebera
pa nasihat tentang…)
What do you recommend………? (Apa yang dapat kamu rekomendasikan?)
Please tell me what should I do? (Kumohon katakan padaku apa yang harus aku
lakukan?)
2. Giving Suggestion (Memberi Saran)

I advise you to… Saya menyarankan Anda untuk ...

Maybe you should…. Mungkin kamu harus ....
• Formal: S + Modal (should, ought to, co
uld, etc) + V + complement
• S + suggest + (that) + S + should + V +
complement
• – Informal: WH question → What about
going to the cinema tonight?
For example :
• John :“I’ve got a caught for more than 2 days.”
• Diana : “I suggest that you must drink a medicine.”

• Mrs. Thomson : “My son, Henry study only when he will have a test.”
• Mrs. Watson : “I suggest that your son must study every day.”

• David : “Doctor, what do you recommend me to loose my weight?”

• Doctor : “You must eat more vegetable and fruits.”

Request is the way to ask somebody to do something p
olitely. We can use the following expressions:

a. Can……………………….: Can you close the window?

b. Could…………………….: Could you please open the door?
c. Would……………………: Would you please give me a hand?
d. Would.......mind…….:
Would you mind going outside for a
moment?
e. Would…mind not….: Would you mind not to touch the de
vice?
f. Do you mind if………: Do you mind if you contact me tonigh
t?
 Use should + a verb to complete the sentences.
