Profesionalisme

 PROFESI, adalah pekerjaan yang dilakukan sebagai kegiatan
pokok untuk menghasilkan nafkah hidup dan yang
mengandalkan suatu keahlian. Profesi berasal dari bahasa latin
“Proffesio” yang mempunyai dua pengertian yaitu janji/ikrar
dan pekerjaan. Bila artinya dibuat dalam pengertian yang lebih
luas menjadi kegiatan “apa saja” dan “siapa saja” untuk
memperoleh nafkah yang dilakukan dengan suatu keahlian
tertentu. Sedangkan dalam arti sempit profesi berarti kegiatan
yang dijalankan berdasarkan keahlian tertentu dan sekaligus
dituntut daripadanya pelaksanaan norma-norma sosial dengan
baik.

﹡ Profesional adalah orang yang menyandang suatu
jabatan atau pekerjaan yang dilakukan dengan keahlian
atau keterampilan yang tinggi. Hal ini juga pengaruh
terhadap penampilan atau performance seseorang
dalam melakukan pekerjaan di profesinya.“Professional”
mempunyai makna yang mengacu kepada sebutan
tentang orang yang menyandang suatu profesi dan
sebutan tentang penampilan seseorang dalam
mewujudkan unjuk kerja sesuai dengn
profesinya.Penyandangan dan penampilan
“professional” ini telah mendapat pengakuan, baik
segara formal maupun informal.

 PROFESIONALISME, adalah komitmen para profesional
terhadap profesinya. Komitmen tersebut ditunjukkan
dengan kebanggaan dirinya sebagai tenaga profesional,
usaha terus-menerus untuk mengembangkan
kemampuan profesional, dst. Profesionalisme
merupakan komitmen para anggota suatu profesi untuk
meningkatkan kemampuannya secara terus menerus.

Pelatih

Pelatih
﹡ adalah seorang yang profesional yang tugasnya
membantu olahragawan dan tim dalam
memperbaiki penampilan olahraga. Karena
pelatih adalah suatu profesi, maka sebaiknya
pelatih harus dapat memberikan pelayanan yang
sesuai dengan standar/ukuran professional yang
ada. Sedangkan yang sesuai dengan standar
profesi adalah pelatih harus dapat memberikan
pelayanan pelatihan sesuai dengan
perkembangan mutakhir pengetahuan ilmiah di
bidang yang ditekuni ( Pate Rotella, 1993:5).

Pelatih yang baik harus mempunyai kemampuan sebagai
berikut :
﹡ 1)      mempunyai kemampuan untuk membantu atlet
dalam mengaktualisasikan potensinya;
﹡ 2)      bila membentuk tim akan didasarkan pada
ketrampilan individu yang telah diajarkan;
﹡ 3)      mempunyai pengetahuan dan keterampilan teknis
yang seimbang;
﹡ 4)      mempunyai kemampuan untuk menyesuaikan
tingkat intelektual dengan keterampilan
neuromuskuler atletnya;
﹡ 5)      mampu menerapkan prinsip-prinsip ilmiah dalam
membentuk kondisi atlet;
﹡ 6)      lebih meningkatkan pada unsur pendidikan secara
utuh, baru kemudian pada unsur pelatihan;

﹡ 7)      membenci kekalahan, akan tetapi tidak
mencari kemenangan dengan berbagai cara yang
tidak etis;
﹡ 8)      mempunyai kemampuan untuk mengendalikan
dirinya;
﹡ 9)      mempunyai kemampuan untuk mengevaluasi
peningkatan terhadap partisipasi atletnya;
﹡ 10)  mempunyai kemampuan untuk selalu dihormati
oleh atletnya maupun teman-temannya; dan
﹡ 11)  mempunyai dedikasi yang tinggi terhadap
profesinya ( Mc Kinney, 1975 ).
