S1 = entropi awal pada keadaan 1
S2 = entropi akhir pada keadaan 2
dS = diferensial exact
•
•
Pengaruh irreversibilitas selalu meningkatkan entropi system.
• Untuk system terisolasi, Q = 0, maka:
Karakteristik entropi:
• Entropi meningkat bila panas diberikan tidak
berpengaruh temperature berubah atau tidak.
• Entropi berkurang bila panas dilepaskan apakah
temperatur berubah atau tidak.
• Entropi tetap tidak berubah pada semua proses
adiabatic tanpa gesekan.
• Entropi meningkat bila temperatur panas lebih rendah
tanpa kerja yang dilakukan karena proses
throttling/pencekikan.
1. An iron cube at a temperature of 400°C is dropped into an insulated bath containing 10 kg
water at 25°C. The water finally reaches a temperature of 50°C at steady state. Given that the
specific heat of water is equal to 4186 J/kg K. Find the entropy changes for the
iron cube and the water. Is the process reversible ? If so why ?
2. An ideal gas is heated from temperature T1 to T2 by keeping its volume
constant. The gas is expanded back to its initial temperature according to
the law pvn = constant. If the entropy change in the two processes are
equal, find the value of n in terms of the adiabatic index γ.
3. 0.04 m3 of nitrogen contained in a cylinder behind a piston is initially
at 1.05 bar and 15°C. The gas is compressed isothermally and
reversibly until the pressure is 4.8 bar. Calculate :
(i) The change of entropy, (ii) The heat flow, and
(iii) The work done.
Sketch the process on a p-v and T-s diagram.
Assume nitrogen to act as a perfect gas. Molecular weight of nitrogen =
