Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

A Brief overview

NLP took its birth in the seventies in the hands of


Dr.Richard Bandler, Prof. Of Computer Science and
Mathematics at the University of Santa Cruz, California,
USA. He found that by modeling behavioural pattern of
people he could produce similar results as those of whom
he modelled. Subsequently, Dr.John Brandler, a Prof. of
Linguistics joined him . Dr.Brandler explored to find out
NLP
N - Neuro = Neurological
aspect of our experiences that
are perceived in our conscious,
sub-conscious and unconscious
mind and stored by codification

 L – Linguistic = Corresponds to both
verbal and Non-verbal language one uses
and this in turn triggers the neuro-chemical
responses
 (three types of personalities)
P
 P – Programming = is the structure and
syntax in which brain stores the
information.

Conscious mind (7%)

Subconscious mind (38%)

Unconscious mind (55%)


 Left Brain – Brain of Certainty
 Right Brain – Brain of Uncertainty (Possibility)
 (Opportunities always come disguised as
uncertainties).
 Uncertainty also classifies all of us into 2
categories, i.e.,
 - Possibility thinker
 - Impossibility thinker
 All depends on your ‘ATTITUDE’

• Stimuli or Environment cannot always be
changed and hence response variables will have
to be engineered to get the right ATTITUDE,
through ‘CONDITIONING OF MIND’

 After conditioning of subconscious, there has


to be repeated affirmation through anchoring
 P – Positive
 R – Repetitive
 A – Affirmation
 Y – Yields
 E – Effective
 R – Results
 After subconscious is programmed this
way, mind will automatically generate
positive thought and the chain will be like
this:

Action – Habits – Character – Destiny as a

 Focus on maximising your strengths and develop core
competency around that
 Recollect all the good deeds done by you during the day and
THANK YOURSELF BY PATTING YOUR BACK.

 If nobody has thanked you for the said good deeds, conclude that
it is their problem not yours.
 Catch people doing something right
 Allow mind to be creative,spontaneous and natural and program
the subconscious through creative visualisation
 Find out some idiosyncrasies, follies and foibles in you and laugh
at them yourself.
 Develop MAEQ(Mental Attitude with Enthusiasm Quotient)
 Each and every individual is gifted in one way or the other. When
meet anybody, consider it to be a learning opportunity, discover
that GIFT in him and have it in you to empower yourself.
 Look at problems as opportunities
 Finally always keep the underprivileged in mind and thank GOD
for whatever he has given you.
