 Pendahuluan

1. Biodesel

Biodiesel adalah bioenergi atau bahan bakar yang terdiri dari alkyl ester yang dibuat dari
minyak tumbuh-tumbuhan atau lemak hewan. Biodiesel dapat diperoleh melalui reaksi
transesterifikasi trigliserida atau reaksi esterfikasi asam lemak bebas.
 Minyak biji kapuk diekstraksi dari biji kapuk
randu atau kapuk (Ceiba Pentandra).
Pohon ini merupakan pohon tropis yang
tergolong ordo Malvales dan famili
Malvaceae. Kata "kapuk" atau "kapok"
juga digunakan untuk menyebut serat yang
dihasilkan dari bijinya. Pohon ini juga
dikenal sebagai kapas Jawa atau kapok
Jawa, atau pohon kapas-sutra. Daerah
penghasil kapuk di Indonesia meliputi
daerah DI.Aceh, Jambi, Jawa Barat, Jawa
Tengah, Jawa Timur, dan Sumatera Utara
