Apa Itu Happy Hypoxia?
Happy hypoxia adalah kondisi yang muncul ketika kadar
saturasi oksigen di dalam darah menurun drastis.
Biasanya, orang yang mengalami hipoksia akan merasa
sesak napas, batuk-batuk, detak jantung cepat, serta napas
yang berbunyi.
Namun, studi terbaru dari Loyola University Health
System, yang ditulis Science Daily mengungkapkan
fakta terbaru!
Studi ini menyatakan, pengidap COVID-19 yang
mengalami happy hypoxia masih bisa beraktivitas tanpa
masalah dan tidak mengalami sesak napas. Tentu
kondisi tersebut masih sangat membingungkan para
dokter karena dianggap bertentangan dengan biologi
dasar.
Happy hypoxia disebut juga silent hypoxia atau
hypoxemia, sebuah kondisi ketika tubuh tidak
merasakan gejala seperti sesak napas, tapi jika kadar
oksigen dalam jaringan diperiksa, akan didapati hasil
yang sangat rendah.
Perlu diketahui bahwa tekanan oksigen dalam arteri yang
normal berada di kisaran 75 sampai 100 mm Hg. Bila
tekanan oksigen berada di bawah 60 mm Hg, hal itu
menunjukkan bahwa tubuh memerlukan oksigen tambahan.
Sementara bila diperiksa dengan menggunakan pulse
oksimetri, konsentrasi oksigen dalam jaringan yang
normal adalah 95-100 persen. Di bawah nilai tersebut
berarti oksigen di dalam tubuh rendah.

1. Rendahnya Kadar Karbon Dioksida
di Tubuh Pasien Covid-19
Pada kasus hipoksia biasa, turunnya kadar oksigen tidak
diikuti dengan berkurangnya kadar karbon dioksida di
tubuh. Sehingga, tubuh bisa cepat menangkap sinyal
bahwa telah terjadi ketidakseimbangan di dalam.
Sementara itu pada kasus happy hypoxia, berkurangnya
kadar oksigen yang signifikan juga disertai dengan
turunnya kadar karbon dioksida di tubuh. Akibatnya,
tubuh merasa bahwa kondisi di dalam masih seimbang,
padahal ada gangguan.
2. Virus Corona Merusak Bagian Otak
Yang Seharusnya Merespons Hipoksia
Kemungkinan lain penyebab happy hypoxia adalah virus
corona yang masuk ke tubuh, telah merusak kemampuan
tubuh dalam mendeteksi penurunan oksigen. Sehingga,
otak baru merespons ketika kadar oksigen sudah terlalu
rendah dan barulah menunjukkan gejala.

Dokter Spesialis Paru RSUP Persahabatan, Erlina Burhan,
menyebut happy hypoxia tidak bisa terjadi pada orang
yang tak memperlihatkan gejala Covid-19. Happy hypoxia
hanya bisa dialami oleh orang yang terinfeksi Covid-19
dengan menunjukkan gejala demam, batuk, dan pusing.
Apakah Happy Hypoxia
Bisa Dicegah?
Tanpa disertai gejala, happy hypoxia bisa mengancam
nyawa. Kendati demikian, bukan berarti kondisi tersebut tak
bisa dicegah sama sekali. Happy hypoxia dapat dideteksi
secara dini dengan cara mengukur kadar oksigen di fasilitas
layanan kesehatan terdekat atau periksakan secara mandiri.
Dikutip dari Today, dokter ahli paru intervensi Dr.
Udit Chaddha mengatakan, happy hypoxia hanya bisa
diketahui dengan pemeriksaan kadar oksigen dalam
tubuh menggunakan Pulse Oximeter.
Apa Itu Pulse Oximeter?
Pulse Oximeter adalah alat yang digunakan untuk
mendeteksi kadar saturasi oksigen di dalam darah.
Alat ini mudah digunakan dan tidak menimbulkan
rasa sakit pada penggunanya.
Berikut ini cara pemakaiannya:
• Masukkan jari ke dalam alat tersebut.
• Tunggu hingga alat mengeluarkan angka di layar
yang menandakan kadar saturasi oksigen serta
jumlah detak jantung.
Setiap alat biasanya memiliki kadar kesalahan
kurang lebih sekitar 2%. Jadi jika pemeriksaan
saturasi oksigen Anda menunjukkan angka 95%,
maka kadar saturasi aslinya bisa berkisar antara 93-
97%.
Akurasi pengukuran menggunakan pulse oximeter
juga bergantung pada gerakan jari saat pengukuran,
temperatur tubuh, hingga cat kuku yang digunakan.
Cat kuku bisa mengganggu akurasi dari pembacaan
menggunakan oximeter. Sebab, alat ini bekerja dengan
cara memancarkan cahaya yang tembus ke pembuluh
darah di jari. Cahaya tersebut kemudian akan
mengukur penyerapan cahaya yang dilakukan sel darah
merah.
 Apakah Wajib Memiliki
Pulse Oximeter Di Rumah?
Penggunaan alat oximeter memang bisa membantu untuk
membaca kadar saturasi oksigen dalam darah. Namun
sebenarnya, alat ini tidak wajib dimiliki oleh semua
orang. Terutama pada orang yang belum pernah
menggunakan alat tersebut, potensi terjadinya kesalahan
pengukuran dan pembacaan hasil itu cukup tinggi.
Hanya ada beberapa kelompok individu yang sebaiknya
memiliki pulse oximeter di rumah, yaitu:
• Lansia yang memiliki riwayat penyakit kronis
• Pasien positif Covid-19 yang menjalani isolasi mandiri di rumah
• Para pekerja sektor tertentu yang sering bertemu banyak orang,
karena berisiko tinggi menjadi OTG
Hasil pembacaan pulse oximeter pun tidak bisa dijadikan
patokan diagnosis Covid-19. Hasil yang tertera di alat
tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai pengingat bahwa tubuh
tidak sedang baik-baik saja.
Tanpa oksigen yang cukup, otak, ginjal dan berbagai
organ dalam tubuh dapat rusak hanya dalam beberapa
menit setelah gejala dimulai. Bila kadar oksigen dalam
darah terus menurun, organ-organ tersebut dapat mati
dan hal ini mengancam jiwa.
Mengingat happy hypoxia sangat berbahaya bila tidak
ditangani segera, penting bagi pengidap COVID-19 untuk
mewaspadai gejala kondisi tersebut. Segera kunjungi
rumah sakit bila mengalami gejala-gejala tersebut.
