1. SEJARAH PENGINDERAAN JAUH 3
1909 Wilbur Wright is credited with taking the first photographs from an
airplane.
Tahun 1939 Jerman menunjukkan betapa pentingnya interpretasi foto.
diluncurkan, diberinama ERTS-1, kemudian berubah menjadi Landsat.
Beberapa sensor berwahana satelit diluncurkan untuk keperluan komunitas internasional
seperti, SPOT, NOAA-AVHRR, ERS-1, JERS-1, IKONOS, Quickbird dll.

Hubungan resolusi spasial, spektral dan temporal
Spatial Resolution
Spatial resolution refers to the size of the smallest object that can be resolved on the
ground. In a digital image, the resolution is limited by the pixel size, i.e. the smallest
resolvable object cannot be smaller than the pixel size. The intrinsic resolution of an imaging
system is determined primarily by the instantaneous field of view (IFOV) of the sensor,
which is a measure of the ground area viewed by a single detector element in a given
instant in time.
However this intrinsic resolution can often be degraded by other factors which introduce
blurring of the image, such as improper focusing, atmospheric scattering and target motion.
The pixel size is determined by the sampling distance. A "High Resolution" image refers to
one with a small resolution size. Fine details can be seen in a high resolution image. On the
other hand, a "Low Resolution" image is one with a large resolution size, i.e. only coarse
features can be observed in the image.
Hubungan resolusi spasial, spektral dan temporal
A low resolution MODIS scene with a wide coverage. This image was received by
CRISP's ground station on 3 March 2001. The intrinsic resolution of the image was
approximately 1 km, but the image shown here has been resampled to a resolution
of about 4 km. The coverage is more than 1000 km from east to west. A large part
of Indochina, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Sumatra can be seen in the
image.
Part of a very high resolution image acquired by the IKONOS satellite. This
true-colour image was obtained by merging a 4-m multispectral image with a
1-m panchromatic image of the same area acquired simultaneously. The
effective resolution of the image is 1 m. At this resolution, individual trees,
vehicles, details of buildings, shadows and roads can be seen. The image
shown here covers an area of about 400 m by 400 m. A very high spatial
resolution image usually has a smaller area of coverage. A full scene of an
IKONOS image has a coverage area of about 10 km by 10 km

INTERAKSI DENGAN ATMOSFER
68
69
Atmospheric absorption affects mainly the visible and infrared bands. Optical remote
sensing depends on solar radiation as the source of illumination. Absorption reduces the
solar radiance within the absorption bands of the atmospheric gases. The reflected
radiance is also attenuated after passing through the atmosphere. This attenuation is
wavelength dependent. Hence, atmospheric absorption will alter the apparent spectral
signature of the target being observed.
INTERAKSI DENGAN ATMOSFER
70
Atmospheric scatterring is important only in the visible and near infrared regions.
Scattering of radiation by the constituent gases and aerosols in the atmosphere causes
degradation of the remotely sensed images. Most noticeably, the solar radiation
scattered by the atmosphere towards the sensor without first reaching the ground
produces a hazy appearance of the image. This effect is particularly severe in the blue
end of the visible spectrum due to the stronger Rayleigh Scattering for shorter
wavelength radiation.
71
INTERAKSI RADIASI DAN TARGET (OBYEK)
D
A
E H
B B G
F
C
73
POLA RESPON SPEKTRAL
Dengan pengukuran energi yang dipantulkan
atau dipancarkan oleh target di permukaan
bumi maka dapat dibuat respon spektral target
tersebut.
Dengan membandingkan pola respon dari
beberapa target berbeda maka dapat
diidentifikasi karakteristik masing-masing
target.
Sebagai contoh, air dan vegetasi (tumbuh-
tumbuhan) kemungkinan mempunyai sifat
pantulan yang mirip pada rentang cahaya
tampak tetapi akan sangat berbeda pada
rentang gelombang infra-red.

Orbit
ini dinamakan orbit polar.

83
84
Near-Polar Orbits:
These satellites are designed to follow an orbit (basically north-
south) which, in conjunction with the Earth’s rotation (west-east),
allows them to cover most of the Earth’s surface over a certain
period of time
Two types of near-polar orbits:
Sun-Synchronous:
o Cover each area of the world at a constant local time of day
o At any given latitude, the position of the sun in the sky as the satellite
passes overhead will be the same within the same season
85
Near-Polar Orbits:
The satellite travels northward on one side of the Earth and then
toward the southern pole on the second half of its orbit. These
are called ascending and descending passes, respectively.
If the orbit is also sun-synchronous, the ascending pass is most
likely on the shadowed side of the Earth while the descending
pass is most likely on the sunlit side.
Sensors recording reflected solar energy only image the surface
on a descending pass, when solar illumination is available
Active sensors which provide their own illumination or passive
sensors that record emitted (e.g. thermal) radiation can also
Near-polar orbits
image the surface on ascending passes.

Citra dimana hanya target/obyek besar saja yang tampak dikatakan mempunyai
resolusi spasial rendah.
Satelit komersial memberikan resolusi
spasial dari sub-meter sampai kilometer.
PENERIMAAN, TRANSMISI DAN PENGOLAHAN DATA
90
91

pasif
aktif
Energi gelombang mikro yang direkam oleh
sensor pasif dapat
• dipancarkan/dihamburkan oleh atmosfer (1),
• dipantulkan dari permukaan (2),
• dipancarkan dari permukaan (3), atau
• ditransmisi dari bawah permukaan tanah (4)
Karena gelombang ini mempunyai panjang
gelombang yang terlalu panjang maka energi
yang diterima kecil jika dibandingkan dengan
panjang gelombang optik.
Sensor aktif mempunyai sumber energi sendiri melalui radiasi gelombang mikro untuk
mengiluminasi target/obyek. Sensor gelombang mikro aktif biasanya dibagi menjadi 2 yaitu :
RADAR dan non-imaging.

inderaja meliputi identifikasi

F
C
analisis citra melingkupi beberapa elemen pengolahan digital. Pengolahan citra digital
