1. “Light” means that Jesus wasn’t a
mere man

“I Am the Light of the World”
2. “Light” means that Jesus’ presence
confronts darkness

“In Him was life, and that life was the


light of men. The light shines in the
darkness, but the darkness has not
extinguished it.” Jn 1:4-5
Jesus’ presence confronts:
“For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world but to save the
world through Him . . . Whoever does not
believe stands condemned already . . .
Everyone who does evil hates the light and
will not come into the light and will not
come into the light . . . But whosoever lives
by the truth comes into the light.”
John 3:17-21
“I Am the Light of the World”
3. “Light” means that Jesus gives new
beginnings

“In the beginning God said, ‘Let there be light!”


New Beginnings:
• Jesus rescues us from the darkness we
were born into

“Darkness” = unable to grasp God

“Light” = delivered from the grasp of sin


“Light” = able to know God & spiritual truth

we’ve gotten ourselves into

“Light” = new wisdom for better living


“I Am the Light of the World”
4. “Light” means that Jesus leads His
own
Jesus Leads Me:

“The way of the wicked is like deep


darkness—they don’t know what makes
them stumble. But the path of the
righteous is like the first gleam of dawn
that shines brighter and brighter until the
noonday sun.”
Prov 4:18-19
