mOriginal setup is Oracle 10g standalone

databases.
mThe target datacenter is at Kettering which is
the TCS datacenter.
mThe setup at Kettering will be Oracle 11gR2
with 2 node cluster database.
V The primary database servers are XKOL053
AND XKOL054 with db unique name
GEMPOC.
V The standby servers are XKOL5703 and
XKOL5807 with db unique name GEMPOCS.
V After the switchover the XKOL5703 and
XKOL5807 servers are hosting the primary
database.
m After the servers being provided need to check
the pre-reqs for the installation of Oracle
11gR2.

permissions.

V Start with the grid installation procedure once
the pre-reqs are configured properly.
V The grid installation needs to be started as the
grid user.
V Appropriate asm disk group needs to be
provided with external redundancy.
V 0pon completion,start with the database
software installation
m The grid user needs to be created with the
primary group as oinstall and secondary as
asmadmin. For the Oracle user the asmadmin
group also needs to be added.
m The grid home is shared by both asm and
cluster.
For the grid user the oracle home should not be
present under oracle base.
EX: ORACLE_BASE=/opt/grid/base

ORACLE_HOME=/opt/grid/product/11.2
m The grid installation contains the installation of
both asm and the clusterware software.
m The OCR and VOTING files can reside on the
asm disk groups which was not possible as
part of Oracle 10g.
m The scan (single client access name) name is
provided which when added to the tns entry
helps in load balancing and TAF (transparent
application failover).
V The ssh needs to be configured for both the
oracle and grid user.
V The private and the public ip·s should be
physical not virtual ips. Otherwise the root.sh
will fail during the installation.
V Three disk groups are required
RACDBDATA,FRADATA and CRS. The
diskgroup needs to be created with external
redundancy and RAID 5 or RAID 10.
V The logfiles parameter is replace by
diagnostic_dest.
V The memory parameter for SGA and PGA is
replaced by memory_target.
V Views to check for asm: v$asm_operation
v$asm_disk
v$asm_diskgroup
m Parameters to be included in both the primary
and standby databases.

m Force logging needs to be enabled on both the
primary and standby databses.
m The tns entries needs to be copied to all the
databases.
V The sys password needs to be the same in both
