 Apa itu SBR?
Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) adalah
suatu kopolimer acak yang terdiri dari 2
macam monomer, yaitu styrene dan
butadiene (25% styrene dan 75% butadiene).
Polimerisasi SBR bisa dilakukan dengan
cara larutan atau emulsi
 Apa itu SBR?
SBR merupakan salah satu jenis dari karet
sintetis. Beberapa jenis karet sintetis lainnya
adalah NBR, BR, IIR, dll. Penggunaan SBR
biasanya digabung dengan karet alam untuk
memberikan properti yang superior. SBR
terkadang disebut sebagai karet sintetis multi
fungsi

Sifat Lainnya

Laboratorium
Dari segi komersial, SBR dengan kandungan
butadiene dan rasio cis-trans tinggi serta
kandungan gel yang rendah sangat
diinginkan. Derajat cross link yang tinggi
tidak diinginkan karena membuat SBR susah
diproses lanjut
Nukleasi adalah tahapan awal pembentukan
krisal dalam larutan. Hal ini tidak diinginkan
dalam pembuatan SBR. Penggunaan
surfaktan yang digenerasi secara in situ akan
mengurangi nukleasi sekunder

Dibandingkan dengan teknik polimerisasi

emulsi klasik, polimerisasi dengan
miniemulsi menghasilkan derajat cross link
yang rendah, yang mengakibatkan
kandungan gel yang juga rendah.
 Tahapan Proses

Latex SBR yang dihasilkan memiliki Rasio styrene:butadiene pada latex SBR
kandungan padatan sekitar 50% dengan yang dihasilkan adalah 75/25 dan fraksi gel
diameter partikel 180 nm. PdI = 0.08, Tg = yang tidak larut sekitar 4%wt. Jumlah gel
52oC. Indeks polidispersitas yang dihasilkan yang rendah memberikan kemampuan
menunjukkan distribusi berat molekul yang proses yang baik untuk SBR. Perkiraan
sempit dari SBR yang dihasilkan konversi berdasarkan konten solid adalah
95%
Eksperimen scale up dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kemungkinan produksi
skala
besar SBR lateks melalui polimerisasi miniemulsi yang diproduksi
menggunakan
ultra-turrax sebagai pengaduk. Reaksi pada cale up ini menggunakan
hexadecane
(HD) atau octadecyl acrylate (ODA) sebagai hidrofob. Kedua hidrofob
menghasilkan lateks SBR yang stabil dengan kandungan padatan sekitar
