 Kepemimpinan
Kepemimpinan adalah seni atau kemampuan untuk mempengaruhi pikiran,
perasaan, dan tingkah laku seseorang atau kelompok dalam melakukan
sesuatu untuk mencapai tujuan.

Untuk meningkatkan efektivitas organisasi, dibutuhkan kemauan untuk

belajar bagaimana melatih pemimpin secara efektif, namun juga
menciptakan lingkungan organisasi yang pemimpinnya mampu
melaksanakan tugasnya sebaik mungkin.
 Gaya Kepemimpinan
 Gaya kepemimpinan autokratis: gaya yang membuat pemimpin mengontrol setiap aspek
pelaksanaan kegiatan yang mana ia akan memberitahu target utama dan target minor yang perlu
dikejar dan cara untuk mencapai target tersebut.

 Gaya Kepemimpinan demokratis : pemimpin mengikutsertakan karyawannya dalam mengambil

keputusan, mendelegasikan kekuasaan, mendorong partisipasi karyawan dalam menentukan
bagaimana metode kerja dan tujuan yang ingin dicapai,

 Gaya kepemimpinan kendali bebas : mendeskripsikan pemimpin yang secara keseluruhan

memberikan karyawannya atau kelompok kebebasan dalam pembuatan keputusan dan
menyelesaikan pekerjaan menurut cara yang menurut karyawannya paling sesuai.
 Kekuasaan
Kekuasaan adalah wewenang yang diperoleh seseorang
dan menjalankannya sesuai dengan wewenang yang
telah diberikan, tidak boleh sesuai kemauan sendiri.

mengajak atau memengaruhi orang lain.

Richard L. Daft mendefinisikan politik organisasi sebagai “kegiatan yang
melibatkan kegiatan memperoleh, mengembangkan dan menggunakan
kekuasaan (power) dan sumber daya lainnya guna mempengaruhi pihak lain
serta menambah hasil yang diharapkan tatkala terdapat ketidakmenentuan
ataupun ketidaksetujuan seputar pilihan-pilihan yang tersedia.”
 Richard L. Daft mengidentifikasi 3 wilayah dimana politik organisasi terangsang untuk
muncul. Wilayah-wilayah tersebut adalah :

Lapindo Brantas Inc. Merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang pertambangan.
Perusahaan ini memperoleh izin dari negara untuk melakukan penambangan minyak dan gas di
daratan di desa Porong Kabupaten Sidoharjo. Pada saat melakukan pengeboran yang dikoordinasikan
oleh pemenang tender yaitu PT TMMJ (Tiga Musim Masa Jaya) di tempat tersebut terjadi keadaan
yang tidak diinginkan berupa semburan lumpur cair yang menyembur ke permukaan daratan.
Berdasarkan berita Harian Surya edisi 30/06/2006, sehari sebelum semburan gas terjadi, salah satu
pekerja pengeboran telah melaporkan bahwa terdapat kemungkinan kebocoran lumpur apabila
pengeboran tetap dipaksakan kepada Lapindo Brantas tapi hal tersebut diabaikan.
Direktur Regional II Badan Perencanaan dan Pembangunan Nasional (Bappenas) Suprayoga
Hadi, menyebutkan bahwa kajian kerugian total yang ditimbulkan akibat lumpur lapindo mencapai
Rp27,4 triliun selaa sembilan bulan terakhir (29 Mei 2006 – 8 Maret 2007), yang terjadi atas kerugian
sebesar Rp11,0 triliun dan kerugian tidak langsung Rp16,4 triliun. Laporan awal penilaian kerusakan
dan kerugian akibat bencana tersebut menyebutkan angka kerugian berpotensial meningkat menjadi
Rp44,7 triliun, akibat potensi kerugian dampak tidak langsung menjadi Rp33,7 triliun, jika terus
berlangsung dalam jangka panjang. Sedangkan, angka kerusakan langsung selama 9 bulan sebenarnya
mencapai Rp3,7 triliun sehingga total kerusakan dan kerugian langsung menjadi Rp11,0 triliun.
 Studi Kasus
Dalam situasi dan kondisi bagaimana pun, jika seseorang berusaha untuk
mempengaruhi perilaku orang lain, maka aktivitas seperti itu telah melibatkannya ke dalam
aktivitas kekuasaan. Kekuasaan yang dimiliki oleh para petinggi Lapindo Brantas juga
mempengaruhi jalannya kasus dan tuntutan yang mengarah pada kasus lumpur lapindo.
Hal tersebut merupakan gambaran kekuasaan dan politik dalam kaitannya dengan elemen
lingkungan di luar organisasi.
Didalam kasus ini penggunaan kekuasaan dan politik untuk mengelola suatu
organisasi sangat menentukan arah dari organisasi yang bersangkutan. Dalam hal ini
Seorang pemimpin menggunakan kekuasaannya untuk mencari keuntungan sendiri dengan
cara mengabaikan laporan dari seorang pekerja akan kemungkinan terjadinya kebocoran
lumpur. Sikap pemimpin dalam menggunakan kekuasaannya adalah penyebab utama
terjadinya konflik dalam kasus ini.
