PENGERTIAN
Secara grafik, jika kurva suatu fungsi merupakan sebuah kurva
mulus, maka fungsi monoton naik dan fungsi monoton turun
dapat dengan mudah Ananda amati. Misalnya untuk grafik
fungsi yang digambarkan dibawah ini, Ananda dapat
mengatakan bahwa fungsi y = f(x) monoton naik pada interval x
< a atau x > b, monoton turun pada interval a < x < b. Kadangkala
istilah monoton bisa dihilangkan sehingga menjadi fungsi naik
dan fungsi turun.

2). fI(x) < 0 Kurva Turun
3). fI(x) = 0 Titik Stasioner

Secara aljabar pengertian fungsi naik dan fungsi turun adalah
sebagai berikut.

Definisi 1

Misalkan f fungsi trigonometri yang terdefinisi di

selang I. naik pada selang I jika untuk setiap X dan X di

Ingat kembali bahwa turunan pertama f I(x) memberikan

makna kemiringan dari garis singgung pada grafik f di titik x.
Jika f I(x) > 0, garis singgung naik ke kanan (lihat Gambar 1 ),
jika f I(x) < 0, garis singgung jatuh ke kanan Untuk menyelidiki
atau mencari interval di mana fungsi naik dan di mana fungsi
turun, Ananda dapat menggunakan turunan pertama seperti
teorema berikut.
