Sementara filsafat berasal dari serapan bahasa Arab, falsafa.

Kemunculan ilmu filsafat dalam Islam (boleh juga
dibaca filsafat Islam, filsafat muslim) bertitik tumpu
pada ilmu-ilmu yang pernah dimunculkan oleh
orang-orang Yunani Kuno serta korelasinya dengan
Alquran dan Hadis.
Al Kindi melakukan pemaduan agama Islam dengan
filsafat sehingga filsafat Islam diterima umat Islam
dengan cara,

• Pertama, kata filsafat sama dengan al-hikmah. Ini

sama dengan kata "al-hikmah" yang terdapat pada
Alquran yang berarti bijaksana atau orang yang
bijaksana.
Kedua, adanya beberapa ayat-ayat yang menyuruh
umat Islam untuk berpikir. Ini menjadi bukti bahwa
tidak ada pertentangan filsafat (yang identik dengan
berpikir secara mendalam) dengan agama Islam.
Lebih lanjut lagi untuk menjadi orang yang
bijaksana, perlu memiliki pengetahuan dan
memunculkan ilmu pengetahuan baru adalah hasil
dari berpikir secara mendalam.
Intinya para filosof muslim berusaha menjelaskan
tentang Tuhan, alam dan manusia, maupun wahyu
dan kenabian dengan akal pikiran kepada orang-
orang supaya dimengerti dan dapat diterima juga oleh
akal pikiran.

Sejarah Filsafat
Islam
Tinjauan sejarah kemunculan keilmuan Islam (di luar
fikih, ushul fikih, bahasa Arab, 'ulumul Qur'an,
'ulumul hadist) bermula dari masa Dinasti Umayyah
dengan Khalifah Al Marwan yang menerjemahkan
buku kedokteran karya Aaron (dokter dari Mesir).
Kemudian dilanjutkan penerjemahan secara besar-
besaran oleh Dinasti Abbasiyah dengan Khalifah
Harun al-Rasyid dan dilanjutkan khalifah Al-
Makmun dengan mengembangkan lembaga Baitul
Hikmah (pusat kajian ilmu dan penerjemahan) ilmu-
ilmu dari India kuno, dan Yunani kuno.
Maka kondisi tersebut memunculkan tiga golongan
keilmuan saat itu,

Pertama, ilmuwan (saintis) yang hanya berfokus pada

penerjemahan dan pengembangan ilmu seperti
kedokteran, astrologi, ilmu alam, ilmu optik.
contohnya yang paling utama, Ibnu Rusyd
Kedua, filosof muslim dan ilmuwan yang
menerjemahkan karya filosof Yunani kuno umpama
teologi, etika, jiwa dan ilmu-ilmu kedokteran,
psikologi . Ini dapat dilihat pada Ibnu Sina yang
mengembangkan konsep bukti adanya Allah dengan
wajibul wujud (wujud yang wajib ada) dan mumkinul
wujud (wujud yang mungkin ada) disamping juga
seorang dokter dan bapak psikologi dalam Islam.
Ketiga, teolog muslim (orang-orang yang
mempertahankan akidah Islam) dengan mengambil
dan memakai ilmu logika/ mantik yang merupakan
cabang ilmu filsafat ketika berdebat. Kemeriahan
kajian-kajian ilmu keislaman dengan filsafat Islam
sebagai titik pemicu di abad 7-12 Masehi itu menjadi
tonggak masa kejayaan Islam.

Reposisi Filsafat
Islam
Filsafat identik dengan cara berpikir yang selalu
mempertanyakan segala sesuatu secara kritis dan
mendasar. Adapun pertanyaan itu mulai dari yang
sederhana ataupun serius. Pertanyaan sederhana
seperti apa yang dilakukan ketika waktu luang.
Pertanyaan serius seperti apa artinya hidup, apakah
manusia sama dengan alam ataukah tidak.
Pencarian jawaban atas pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang
dilakukan secara terus-menerus yang bertujuan untuk
menghasilkan jawaban yang mendekati kebenaran
sehingga pemahaman kita akan segala sesuatu
semakin diperluas dan mendalam.
Reposisi filsafat Islam yaitu pertama, menjadi mitra
kritis terhadap keilmuan-keilmuan Islam yang ada
saat ini karena beberapa keilmuan Islam karakteristik
dan nilai "Islam" mulai memudar.

Ketiga, sebagai Muslim yang dianugerahi Al- Qur’an
dan Nabi Muhammad SAW, segala sesuatu telah
Allah Taala ciptakan “rambu-rambu” nya. Jadi
apapun yang kita pelajari dan renungkan hendaknya
tidak keluar dari dua hal ini.
