Pada tahun 1896, Swāmi Sādhu Shugan Chandra
beserta komite yang dibentuknya menginisiasi
penyelenggaraan Konferensi Agama-Agama Besar di
Hindustan.Konferensi ini berlangsung dari tanggal 26
sampai 29 Desember 1896 di Balai Kota Lahore. Wakil-
wakil dari Sanātan Dharm,... Hindu Arya Samāj, Free
Thinker, Brāhmu Samāj, Theosophical Society, Religion
of Harmony, Kristen. Islam dan Sikh menyampaikan
makalah-makalah mereka. Akan tetapi hanya satu
makalah saja yang berisikan jawaban sejati serta
lengkap terhadap permasalahan-permasalahan
tersebut.
Buku Filsafat Ajaran Islam ini adalah terjemahan dari
sebuah karangan tentang Islam yang sangat masyhur
oleh Hādhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Al-Masīh dan Imam
Mahdi a.s., Pendiri Jemaat Muslim Ahmadiyah. Naskah
aslinya ditulis dalam bahasa Urdu yang dipersiapkan
untuk Konferensi Agama-agama Besar yang
diselenggarakan di Lahore pada 26-29 Desember 1896.
Sejak itu buku ini menjadi sebuah pengantar
pengenalan Ajaran Islam bagi para pencari kebenaran
dan juga menjadi sumber pengetahuan agama di
seluruh penjuru dunia.

Keunggulan
Allah Yang Maha Mengetahui telah memberi khabar
kepada saya dengan perantaraan ilham bahwa makalah
inilah yang akan unggul di atas semua makalah yang
lainnya. Di dalamnya terdapat cahaya kebenaran,
hikmah dan makrirat. Golongan-golongan lain, bila
hadir dalam Konferensi itu, mendengarkannya dari awal
hingga akhir, akan menjadi malu dan mereka sama-
sekali tidak akan sanggup memperlihatkan kelebihan-
kelebihan semacam ini dari kitab-kitab mereka, baik
yang beragama Kristen, atau Sanathan Dharm maupun
yang lainnya.
Sebab, Allah Taala telah menghendaki agar pada hari itu
zahir manifestasi Kitab Suci-Nya. Berkenaan dengan
itu di dalam alam kasyaf saya melihat suatu tangan
secara ghaib menyentuh tempat kediaman saya. Akibat
sentuhan tangan tersebut, dari tempat kediaman itu
muncul cahaya yang berbinar-binar dan menyebar ke
sekeliling dan sinarnya juga menerpa tangan saya.
Lalu, seseorang yang berdiri di samping saya berseru
dengan suara yang membahana:
.Kemudian dari kondisi kasyaf itu saya dialihkan
pada ilham, lalu turunlah ilham kepada saya:..

...Ini adalah suatu ilham yang menegaskan

dukungan ilahi kepada diri hamba yang lemah
ini....

Filsafat berasal dari bahasa Yunani yaitu philosophia, philos, cinta dan Sophia,
kebijaksanaan, kearifan, hikmah, hakikat, kebenaran.
Jadi philosophia adalah cinta kebijaksanaan, cinta kepada kebenaran dan juga
cinta kepada ilmu pengetahuan.
