 Demokrasi sebagai sikap hidup
Demokrasi merupakan suatu keyakinan, suatu prinsip utama yang harus
dijabarkan dan dilaksanakan secara sistematis dalam bentuk aturan sosial
politik. Bentuk kehidupan yang berdemokrasi akan kokoh bila dikalangan
masyarakat tumbuh nilai-nilai demokrasi tersebut.Setidaknya ada 6 norma
atau unsur pokok yang dibutuhkan oleh tatanan masyarakat yang
demokratis. Keenam norma itu adalah:

 1) Kesadaran akan pluralisme
Sebagai bangsa yang ditakdirkan ALLAH sebagai bangsa yang majemuk, seluruh
warga negara Indonesia seharusnya memandang kemajemukan negeri ini sebagai
rahmat Tuhan Yang Maha Esa yang harus tetap dipelihara dan dilestarikan.
Memaksakan keinginan individu dan kelompok, baik bernuansa agama maupun
budaya, pada dasarnya merupakan sikap yang berlawanan dengan takdir kemajemukan
tersebut. Dengan kata lain, kenyataan alamiah kemajemukan Indonesia dapat dijadikan
sebagai modal potensial bagi masa depan demokrasi Indonesia, bukan sebaliknya
menjadi ancaman bagi eksistensi NKRI dan dasar Pancasila.
