Pengembangan ekonomi wilayah merupakan upaya kebijakana spesial untuk membangun pusat kegiatan
perekonomian dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat.pengenmbangan ekonomi wilayah
dilakukan dengan pembangunan saran dan prasarana transportasi ,kawasan perdagangan,dan kawasan
industri .
Untuk membangun di perdesaan telah diatur oleh UU RI nomor 6 tahun 2014 yang disahkan DPR-RI pada
tanggal 18 september 2013 akan memberikan desa alokasi dana yang besar, dengan indikasi rata rata Rp.1,4
miliyar per tahun.program tersebut disebut program nasional pemberdayaan masyarakat (PNPM)
mandiri.Program nasional pemberdayaan masyarakat (PNPM) merupakan program pemerataan
pembangunan desa di seluruh Indonesia.

Kegiatan pembangunan di desa tidak sama dengan di kota. Biasanya,
pembangunan sarana dan prasarana di desa menggunakan bahan baku dari
sumber daya alam di desa tersebut. Begitu pula dengan tenaga kerjanya, yakni
penduduk desa setempat. Sementara pembangunan sarana dan prasarana di kota

lebih lengkap dan beragam sehingga memiliki daya tarik bagi masyarakat yang
menempati maupun wisatawan. Keadaan ini mengakibatkan ketimpangan
pembangunan antara wilayah desa dan wilayah kota.
