Note to students
Remedial classes were postponed yesterday. It will resume later Read everything that will be flashed on screen. Oral recitation questions are also given here. Questions are of random difficulty. It is expected that you have read your book and at least answered the exercises in the book.

Recap

Perimeter
It is the distance (measure) of the outer side of a polygon. In order to find the perimeter, add up the length of each sides of the figure.

Perimeter
If there are different units of length, convert it to what is asked. If there is an unknown side, simply subtract the partial sum of the sides to the given perimeter.

Area
1. In Elementary, what are the polygons that have formulas in finding its area?
- Square, Rectangle, Parallelogram, Rhombus, Triangle, Trapezoid

2. What will you do if the given figure doesnt have a formula for its area?
- Divide it into triangles, rectangles, parallelograms, or trapezoids

Area
3. How will you find the area of a divided figure?
- By summing up the areas of all divided parts of which can be calculated easily by the formulas

4. What will you do if the given figure has an unknown side but has a given area?
- Equate the area of the given figure to the formula and substitute any given part. Ex

Pythagorean Theorem
The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the legs.

(leg 1) a

c (hypotenuse) b (leg 2)

a2 + b2 = c2

Example
The legs are 4 cm and 3 cm, find the measure of the hypotenuse. a 2 + b 2 = c2 32 + 42 = c2 9 + 16 = c2 25 = c2 5=c <==
