MALAYSIA TOURISM CENTER(MaTiC)


One of division under Ministry of Tourism Currently headed by YB Dato Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen A one-stop tourist centre, MaTiC is driven by the vision to place Malaysia on the global map as one of the finest tourist destinations in the world.

Objective To project the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC) as a world-class one-stop tourist centre for foreign and local tourists Function To promote tourism-related activities organised by the ministry To plan, implement and manage programmes including cultural and tourism-related events To provide the space and infrastructure together with technical assistance for art and culture proponents.

MINISTRY OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS AND CULTURE (KPKK)


The Ministry of Information Communications and Culture (KPKK) is a ministry that combines the previous Ministry of Information, Ministry of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Communications component from the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications

VISION To spearhead the creation of a nation state, grounded on the ideals of 1Malaysia and Rukun Negara, through information, communication and culture. MISSON To enhance national unity and harmony based on the principles of Rukun Negara through information, communication and culture; To mould and nurture a sense of belonging and national pride among all Malaysians through arts, culture and heritage; To develop and strengthen the national communication industry; and To stimulate the national economy through the development of the creative industry.

OBJECTIVE To effectively disseminate information on the national philosophy, policy and programs towards the creation of a 1Malaysia society that is knowledgeable and refined; To develop and monitor communication facilities and services as well as content industry; To popularize arts, culture and heritage via programs and activities towards 1Malaysia; To increase national income through the contributions from the creative and communication industries; and To develop a knowledgeable, creative and innovative human capital.

RM200 million has been allocated funds as a catalyst for the creative industry activitiessuch as film, music, animation, development and relate d activities.

Tourism Commission
established in May 1999 and is under the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau. headed by the Commissioner for Tourism who is tasked to map out Government's tourism development policy and strategy; to provide a focal point for liaison with the tourism industry and to enhance co-ordination in developing tourism.

Tourism Commission works closely with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB)(formerly known as Hong Kong Tourist Association) and other organizations to promote the development of tourism in Hong Kong.

Travel Agent Registry


Vision Our vision is for Hong Kong to have a thriving and responsible travel industry which provides quality services to the outbound travelling public and the inbound visitors. Mission Our mission is to effectively regulate travel agents to protect the interests of the Hong Kong outbound travellers and the inbound visitors and to enhance the reputation of Hong Kong as a tourist-friendly city. Values We endeavour to provide high quality services which are effective, fair, responsive and courteous.

Major Functions The Travel Agents Registry, under the Tourism Commission, was established in Dec, 1985 to administer the Travel Agents Ordinance (Cap. 218)(TAO). Its main functions include: Licensing: Issue new travel agents licence. Renew travel agents licence. Register changes to licence particulars. Suspension / Revocation of travel agents licences in accordance with the TAO Regulation of travel agents: Inspection of travel agents register. Handling of enquiries and complaints including complaints against suspected unlicensed travel agents activities Provision of secretariat support for the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents Administration of the Travel Industry Compensation Fund
