Tourism Commission works closely with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB)(formerly known as Hong Kong Tourist Association) and other organizations to promote the development of tourism in Hong Kong.
Major Functions The Travel Agents Registry, under the Tourism Commission, was established in Dec, 1985 to administer the Travel Agents Ordinance (Cap. 218)(TAO). Its main functions include: Licensing: Issue new travel agents licence. Renew travel agents licence. Register changes to licence particulars. Suspension / Revocation of travel agents licences in accordance with the TAO Regulation of travel agents: Inspection of travel agents register. Handling of enquiries and complaints including complaints against suspected unlicensed travel agents activities Provision of secretariat support for the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents Administration of the Travel Industry Compensation Fund
