Moving Beyond Talk to Action:

Building a Diverse 21st Century Organization
Summit Purpose/Goals
The Diversity Summit’s format was planned to ensure that our sponsors and
attendees gain knowledge, tools, leadership skills, and extensive recognition for
their participation. And to present the Urban League as the region’s premiere
authority on diversity.

Goals:
• Share best practices in achieving diversity in a competitive market
• Equip employers with essential tools to attract, promote, and retain a
diverse workforce
• Reevaluate the strengths of diversity through participation in a number
of interactive sessions
• Visualize a common goal for the region through dialogue
• Engage participants in stimulating discussions regarding the impact of
globalization on diversity
Organized by the Diversity Advisory Council
Mission of the Council:
The Diversity Advisory Council mission is to build alliances with local
businesses aimed at educating and training employers on diversity matters, while
promoting the benefits of diversity as a business strategy to increase profitability
and drive competition.
