POWER PLANT EMERGENCY INSRUCTION

1) EMERGENCY INSTRUCTION DURING


TOTAL POWER FAILURE

ENSURE DC SEAL OIL PUMP HAS TAKEN START ON AUTO. ENSURE DC EOP HAS TAKEN START ON AUTO ENSURE DC LIGHTS ARE ON. CHECK ADEQUATE SEAL OIL TO H2 DP TO AVOID H2 LEAKAGE. ENSURE DC JOP STARTED ON AUTO AT 540 RPM OF TG SPEED. ENSURE DG SET STARTED ON AUTO.CLOSE DG INCOMER BREAKER TO EMCC.

EMERGENCY INSTRUCTION DURING TOTAL POWER FAILURE


CLOSE MS VALVES AND ISOLATE GLAND STEAM.OPEN VACUUM BREAKER AT 200 MM OF HG. OPEN GATE GEARING VALVE AND PUT THE MACHINE ON BARRING GEAR. ENSURE DIESEL FIRE PUMP HAS STARTED. ENSURE DC SCANNER HAS STARTED AND EMERGENCY DAMPER OPENED. ENSURE ALL HOTV,LOTV,HONV ARE CLOSED,CLOSE RESPECTIVE MANUAL ISOLATING VALVES. ENSURE EXTRACTION VALVES TO LP HEATERS,HP HEATERS AND DEARATOR ARE CLOSED. ENSURE ALL TURBINE ATRS DRAINS AND EXTRACTION DRAINS ARE CLOSED.

2)Emergency instructions during fire in MOT/TG oil system


Call the fire brigade. Operate the fire sprinkler system of MOT/valve room. 1) Trip the turbine through fire protection-1 in case of oil leakage in control circuit and ensure that oil emergency shut off valve is closed and vacuum breaker opened.

2) Trip the turbine through Fire protection-2 in
case of oil leakage in lube oil system and ensure that

AOP-1, AOP-2, JOP-1, JOP-2 off and their SLC off. DC EOP, DC JOP ON both SLC ON. Vacuum breaker opened. Gate gearing valve closed.

Stop condenser vacuum pump.

Emergency instructions during fire in MOT/TG oil system

Ensure that DC EOP running and turbine lube oil pressure is ok during coasting down of the turbine rotor. Watch turbine-bearing temperatures. After the machine comes to standstill Stop the DC EOP, in case of oil leakage in the lube oil system keeping DC JOP in service. Rotate the turbine rotors through 180 degrees in 10-min.interval.

3)Emergency instructions during Mill fire


Call the fire brigade. 1) In case of minor fire continue to run the mill with cold air flow and maximum mill loading. 2) Monitor the mill outlet temperature. 1) In case of major fire in mill, stop the PA flow to the mill i.e. close the Hot air gates, Cold air gates, Hot air damper and Cold air damper. 2) Stop the mill and feeder, isolate the seal air.

3) Open the mill fire fighting steam valve and admit steam to the mill. 4) After fire has been positively extinguished and mill has cooled off, purge the mill thoroughly. 5) Water should not be admitted to mill having fire to avoid cracking of mill internals.

4)EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE OF INSTRUMENTS AIR FAILURE


Sudden Fall in Instrument Air Pressure may occur because of: Case-1: Any of running compressor has Tripped: Start the available standby compressor and wait for the stabilization of Pressure. Case-2: ADPs reactivation changeover v/v Malfunctioning: It may cause instrument air line to connect to Atmosphere resulting in very fast drop in Instrument air System pressure:

EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS IN CASE OF INSTRUMENTS AIR FAILURE


Start the available standby compressor. Identify the ADP & Isolate the ADP from Air side. Case-3: Popping up of any Safety v/v & then not resetting: Start the available standby compressor. Identify the ADP & Isolate the ADP from Air side. Case-4: Drop in Air pressure because of no apparent reason: Start the standby air compressor. Identify & isolate the air leakage point

MULTIPLE COMPRESSOR TRIPPING


Multiple Compressor Tripping may occur due to : 1) Electrical supply Failure 2) Loss of cooling water. In Case of Electrical Supply Failure: Start the standby air compressor. Identify the Switchgear which has failed. In case of Loss of cooling water: Ensure the running of Filter water A.C. & Compressor cooling water pumps.

MULTIPLE COMPRESSOR TRIPPING


If the pressure still continues to fall and is not getting stabilized with the running of standby compressors then : Isolate air supply to AHP. Isolate the service air supply.

5)Emergency instructions for purging out Hydrogen

Open purge valve for purging out hydrogen from generator and maintain pressure of Hydrogen at 0.4 ksc. This time C3 or H-9 valve of the generator should be connected to purge valve. Close purge valve H1 at the H2 pressure of 0.4 ksc in generator. Now fill CO2 gas after connecting CO2 line & fill Co2 gas at the generator pressure of 0.4 ksc by regulating H-1 valve till the purity comes to 97 % .

Emergency instructions for purging out Hydrogen


Check the purity of CO2 & record in the UCE logbook . Stop CO2 filling after reaching at 97 % purity level. Now for filling Air in the generator connect Hydrogen line to Air valve & connect C3 valve to purge line & till Air in generator. Generator is safe after filling Air completely & with less CO2 percentage.
