SUMMER TRAINING at INDO FARM EQUIPMENT LIMITED

Submitted by: PRATEEK GANDHI (09ITMG1290ME)

Address : EPIP , Phase - II, Baddi City :Nalagarh State :Himachal Pradesh Plant Area: 36 acres Total Turnover :250-500 Crores No. of Emp. :251-500 Website :www.indofarm.in Sector :Private Sector

The plant is divided into various shops: Casting Shop Machine Shop Engine Assembly & Testing Sheet Metal & Fabrication Paint Shop Tractor Assembly

It was divided in to further sub-units: Core Making Mould Making Pouring & Extraction Fettling Chemistry & Preparation of Molten Metal

Based on the size and shape of core, it is done separately for different parts. Heavy & intricate cores of Engine Block are prepared by cold shooter & Hot shooter method. Other side, parts like FT housing, RT housing, Flywheel housing, Hydraulic Casing, Axle tube, Cylinder head and other small parts core are made manually by filling the prepared sand in core box and extracting it out after its hardening

Material used: Silica Sand+Bentonite+Bentacoal Prepared sand is black in color and is filled in the mould box i.e. DRAG. Molding machine helps to pressurize the air in mould cavity. Then core is inserted in DRAG cavity & the same process is repeated for COPE part. Finally gating system is provided for pouring of metal.

After the solidification of casting ,it is send to SHOT BLASTING MACHINE where all the sand particles attached to it are removed.
Afterwards , all the projections like runner, riser etc are cut down and surface finishing is done through grinders, hammer & chisel etc. Finally, fettled casting is painted so as to protect it from outside moisture and rust.

INDUCTION FURNACE is used to melt the metal Molten metal is either C.I.(cast iron) or S.G.I (sulphur graphite iron). SGI is formed at a temperature of 1400-1450 centigrade whereas CI at 1380-1460 centigrade. Carbon used in CI is CPC(calcinite petroleum coke) which is sulphur content in it and in SGI carbon used is coconut coke which dont contain sulphur.

M/c shop is based on line layout. Lines were: Intermediate housing RT housing FT housing Hydraulic Casing Engine block Cylinder head Axle tube Flywheel housing Miscellaneous products

Engine assembly consists of parts like: Cam shaft Crank shaft Fuel injection pump, fuel filter & oil filter Liner/cylinder, piston &connecting rod assembly Timing gears and inlet-outlet valves. Starter motor, alternator, etc. Flywheel

Sheet metal is used to make outer covering of tractor and provide outer looks. In this shop various operations performed areshearing, punching, bending, drawing ,etc. After performing cutting operations, surface finishing operations are done like removing dent, scratches using hammer, surface grinder , scrubber etc.

Some of the sheet metal products are: Engine front , middle & rear cover. Dash board Fender. Valve caps Radiator cover

Punches output

It is done by MIG welding using CO2 as inert gas. Current rating are 220-230 ampere & voltage rating is 35 volts. Fabrication is used in producing fender and bracket.

After the sheet metal is done, it is send to paint shop in which it is treated with primary treatment chemical before painting

This shop is divide into six lines based on line layout: RT assembly FT assembly Hydraulic assembly Engine assembly Front Axle assembly Main Line (Tractor Formation)

Insertion of differential assembly in RT with bull pinion and tail pinion to form the CAGE assembly. Mounting of PTO shaft to transmit power output for threshers, etc. and bevel pinion shaft to transmit power to axle tube assembly and thus to rear wheels. Insertion of brake sub assembly on left and right side of RT. Mounting of axle tube assembly with bull gears to transmit motion on rear wheels.

Mounting of counter shaft assembly in which all the gears are fixed. Mounting of input shaft that transfers power from engine to the counter shaft assembly which in turns transfer to PTO and main shaft assembly. Main shaft assembly is mounted with movable gears which are attached with gear lever. Finally steering mechanism is also mounted on FT with gear lever.

It serves the purpose of lifting heavy loads. Its major components are Response valve, Coupler, Sector, rock shaft, Ram arm & Sensor. Response valve and sector acts as pressure regulator and controls the amount of lift respectively. After mounting all the components in hydraulic casing, it is tested for carrying loads of 1400 kg and 1800 kg as lifting capacity.

FRONT AXLE is fitted with bracket which is used to tow the vehicles in emergency. It involves making of KPS ( kingpin stub) axle. Then fitment of beam and bracket on KPS. Arms of these KPS is joint with steering system through which front axle rotates.

It starts with fitment of three point linkage on a chassis moving on wheels over platform. Then the connection b/w RT-intermediate assembly & FT is done by means of studs & bolt Mounting of foot board , clutch & brake levers. Fitment of hydraulic assembly on the top of RT. Then engine is mounted in front of FT. Front axle with bracket is placed before engine. Fitment of sheet metal, fuel tank, battery, wheels and other mountings & accessories. Finally testing and inspection after all process.
