QA policies and procedures


Despite the strategy of QA system development and continuous enhancement of education quality was integrated within the YSMU strategic plans, there was a lack of systematic approach to quality assurance. Quality Assurance department was established to develop QA policies and supervision methodical framework for departments, courses and faculties.

Necessity
Development of Action plan and schedule of Strategic Plan with the list of responsible executors, Development of conceptual and organizational framework of YSMU internal QA system, Publishing the handbook of YSMU internal QA policies and procedures.

Approval, monitoring and periodic review of academic programs and awards


Approval and monitoring of academic programs and awards are the responsibilities of scientific board of YSMU. All programs and awards are passing through horizontal and vertical debate levels: departments, cyclic methodological board, central methodological board, and scientific board. Necessity Development of policies and procedures for approval, monitoring and periodic review of academic programs and awards based on outcomes and employers feedback.

Student assessment
There are available policies and procedures of student assessment. Student assessment based on MCQ-s, Questionnaires consist of 50 (test) and 100 (exam) questions. Assessment conducts with 10-point system. Final mark is formed of test and examination results. Assessment policies and procedures are achievable for students.

Necessity - development of new, more effective mechanisms for assessment of knowledge, skills and abilities of students, based on learning outcome. Development of handbook for students about assessment processes, knowledge, skill and ability collection gained by student according to different final marks after each course or program. Development of new mechanisms for assessing the effectiveness of the student assessment.

Teaching staff
Competitive system of teaching staff recruitment in accordance with the prescribed qualification requirements to the existing categories. Contractual system of teaching staff appointment. Assessment of teaching quality and teachers skills by colleagues through reciprocal lecture attending. Partial assessment of teaching staff according to students opinion poll (survey).

Necessity After analysis of current situation, development of policies and procedures of QA and multicomponent (students, peers, supervisors) assessment of teaching staff, development of appropriate mandatory abilities, skills and knowledge requirements for teaching staff in general and for departments particularly. Development of training courses for teaching staff.

Learning resources and student support


During last 5 years there was published handbooks on all courses. All bachelor students are provided with textbooks. YSMU have subscription to different informational systems such as OVID, UPtoDATE, PUBMED, and HINARY. Necessity Development of electronic database of institutional library to make new publications, journals, textbooks more available for students and staff. Development of Student advisory services and career center.

Information system
Available-Presentation and discussion of the faculties annual reports and the resumptive report of the University Necessity Development of general QA database where will flow all information, quiz results, personal and professional information of staff, all syllabuses and educational programs. This database will be updated periodically and particularly can be published on official website of YSMU. Database should be the axis of functioning of QA department.

Public information
Available official website (information is not up to date) of YSMU, publications and journals. Necessity Development of handbook for students and applicants, which will include information about Administration board, teaching staff, assessment policies and procedures, syllabuses of educational programs of YSMU, opportunities and responsibilities of students.
