To summarise…

• At an overall level, Multimedia, Animation, Programming, Software Engg, and

Basic foundation courses are the courses in demand among both current as well

as intenders.

• Choice of course does differ by cities

• Good Counseling followed by good faculty and infrastructure is the Awareness

level for most of big institutes

• With regards most important factor while deciding the institute this year,

• Top 3 tools in Animation are Flash (44%), 3DS Max (24%), Maya (22%)

• Top 2 tools in Visual Effects are Flame (55%) and Inferno (36%)

• Top 3 Compositing Tools are After Effects (48%), Combustion (28%) and

Shake (13%)

• Top 3 Editing Tools are Sound Forge (29%), Premiere Pro (25%) and Final

Cut Pro (21%)

• Top 2 rendering tools are Mental Ray (75%) and Gelato Pro (25%)

• In Interactive Multimedia, Director (88%) was followed by Authorware (12%)

2007

• JavaScript (25%), HTML (24%) and CSS (21%) are the top 3 contenders in

Games Development.

• Photoshop (28%), Illustrator (22%) and Corel Draw (21%) are the top 3 Print and

Publishing tools.

• Dreamweaver (71%), Z Brush (13%) and Deep Paint 3D (10%) are the top 3 in

the others category

• Almost all the roles in 2D/3D Animation are in equal demand.

• 50% of the respondents have evinced interest in recruiting Arena students.


Top Line Findings of Tech Trends - 2007

• Creativity (15%), ability to work under pressure (14%) and ability to communicate

effectively (oral and written) (13%) are the top 3 soft skills sought by recruiters while

recruiting freshers.
• 93% of the respondents have recruited freshers in 2006.

• 88% have recruited less than 50 freshers in 2006.

• 77% of the respondents said that they look for 6 months to 1 year experience.

• 48% look for any graduation degree, 23% for any 3 years diploma and 19% not

concerned with educational qualification of students.


• 91% of the companies deliver a creativity test at the recruitment stage.

• 66% of the respondents pay 5k to 7k p.m to freshers, 18% pay 9k and above and

another 16% pay between 7k to 9k p.m


Animation, a Dynamic Field

Animation is booming but the whole explosion is yet to take place. A peek into some

interesting figures by Nasscom.

• Global animation industry was estimated at USD 59 billion in 2006 and is expected
grow at a CAGR of 8% over 2006-2010, to reach USD 80 billion by 2010
• Indian animation industry is currently pegged at USD 354 million in 2006 and
expected to witness a growth of 24% over 2005 and increase to USD 869 million
by 2010
• The entertainment sector contributes 68% of the total animation market in India
• The share of fully animated movies is expected to increase from 15% to 28% by 2009
• Animation is shaping into the most explosive & dynamic industry and with this the
demand for well trained animation professionals is growing at an astounding pace.
• Animation industry needs over 30,000 people, while the demand met is a mere
10 % of the requirement

• Multimedia professionals: In publishing industry, Multimedia professionals function as


illustrators, animators, and graphic designers who design, compose and organize the
page layouts of magazines, books, and newspapers.

• Multimedia specialists: With convergence and interactive technologies being developed


every day, specialists in this area will be required for on-line education, and video
conferencing.

• Graphic Designers: In E-learning, advertising, and web designing industry, graphic


designers who create effective visuals or illustrations according to the concept or theme
for better communication are required.

• Animators: Animators with the knowledge of every aspect of animation, including both
2D and 3D animation for films and gaming. In 2D Animation, the subject is enhanced

Evaluation Pattern

• It is also very important to assess the effectiveness of the course and keeping
this in mind, At Arena, the evaluation style is designed with the objective of
creating well-trained & fully qualified professionals ready for the industry.

• Students will be evaluated on each semester and the grades will awarded
accordingly
• The evaluation will consists of the following 4 components
– Assignments
– Internal Tests
– Project
– Semester End Examination
• Assignments – depending on the no.of modules taught
• Internal Tests – 2 tests in every semester of 25 marks each
• Project – 1 project at the end of semester of 100 marks
• Semester End Examination – OES (Online Examination System) at the end
of each semester of 50 marks

• Step 1: Welcome
– Greet the enquiry and make him comfortable

• Step 2: Attend to the needs of the customer


– Carefully listen to the needs of the customer
– Analyze the needs of the customer by asking MINIMUM questions
– Validate the needs and get into an agreement with the student on how the course
will benefit the customer
– Reassure the customer of his career decisions
– Highlight the industry figures on Animation Industry & it’s scope

• Step 3: Suggest the course


– Highlight the strengths & USP’s of Arena (you can use the Flip Chart to do so)
– Explain the course, curriculum design & development process
– Talk about the specialization, value adds in each semester
– Mention about eProjects
– In detail explain about the evaluation in each semester
– Explain semester wise career options
– Take the help of the faculty for any technical queries

– Show the testimonial booklet & the testimonials of your center
– Mention about the job openings & also about the future prospects in the
animation industry

– Disclose the fees
– Start with jotting down the installments and at the end show the total value of
the course and not the other way
– Give the batch details (Do not easily agree on the batch the customer wants
even though it is available)
– Maintain a dummy Batch Allocation Register which is more or less full
capacity

– Handle any kind of objections with ease
– Price Objection – DO NOT GET HASSLED
• Be confident about the product & the brand
• Show the per hour realization, i.e., per hour cost to the customer
• Mention about the value adds, courseware etc
Guidelines

• A genuine SMILE
• Make the enquiry comfortable and ask for a glass of water
• If the enquiry is accompanied by a parent, go one step further
by asking for some Tea or Coffee
• Register the name of the enquiry’s at the first instance itself
• Ideally fill the enquiry form so as to avoid wrong data being
filled by them & also this way you get time to understand the
enquiry & suggest the correct course
• Try to build conversation while filling up the enquiry form so
that you are able to gather maximum information
• Try to find out his routine schedule so that you know what time
to follow up

• Also try to find out about the parents background &


schedule and also the decision maker in the family, so that
it becomes easier to contact them if needed
• Do not sell but suggest
• Build the attitude of a guide or more over behave like an
elder sister
• Do not try to avoid objections but try to give solutions in a
calm fashion
• Respect his future career plans and build confidence in him
• Never try to contradict the enquiry
• Be confident of your product and hence justify the pricing
• Explain the product with the same confidence which in
turn will eliminate all doubts with the enquiry

talk about the competition with equal respect

• Never show your eagerness to sell the course
• Always ask the enquiry to get back to you rather than you
asking when to call him
