The good…

Improvements in teaching and learning in the

current year …include more active involvement
of learners in lessons, greater account taken of
the individual needs of learners and increased
use of integrated learning technology (ILT) to
support learning. The proportion of lessons
judged to be good or better increased from 64%
in 2005/06 to 79% in 2006/07
The not so good…

“Too much teaching and learning is

unimaginative….Teachers employ too narrow a
range of teaching and learning methods and rely
too heavily on exposition and paper-based
learning materials.”
“It is not enough to design pleasing classroom environments that
are nice to be in, although this is a good place to start”….

There should be… “equal educational opportunity to learn

regardless of your visual, auditory, or kinesthetic modality and
irrespective of visual or auditory disability.”

“A student should have an equal educational opportunity to learn

regardless of where they sit, who they are, or how they process
information.”
