Scientific management methods called for optimizing the way that tasks were performed and simplifying the jobs enough so that workers could be trained to perform their specialized sequence of motions in the one "best" way.

The development of a science for each element of a mans work to replace old rule of thumb. Scientifically selecting, training, and developing workers. The development of a spirit of hearty cooperation between workers. The division of work between workers and the management in almost equal shares.

Labour is defined and authority is legitimized. Positions paced in hierarchy and under authority of higher level. Selection is based upon technical competence training on experience. Actions and decisions are recorded to allow continuity and memory. Mgt. is different from the ownership. Managers follow rules /procedures to enable reliable behavior.

Shift decision making from employees to managers. Develop the one best way as a standard method for performing each job. Select workers with appreciate abilities for each job. Train workers in the standards method previously developed. Support workers by planning their work. Provide wage intensives to workers for increased output.

Scientific approach to business management & process improvement. Importance of compensation for performance. Began the careful study of tasks and jobs. Importance of selection criteria by management. Perspective of improving the productivity and efficiency of manual workers.

Taylors impact has been so great because he developed a concept of work design, work measurement, production control and other functions that completely changed the nature of industry.

The aim of Scientific Management is to produce

Knowledge about how to improve work process.

His views on motivation, management and organization all presupposed certain conditions to be constant, which we now know, they are not.

the presence of a capitalist system and a money economy, where companies in a free market have as their main objective the improvement of efficiency and the maximization of profit; the Protestant work ethic, that assumes people will work hard and behave rationally to maximize their own income, putting the perceived requirements of their organization before their own personal objectives and goals; that an increased size is desirable in order to obtain the advantages of the division of labor and specialization of tasks.

His belief was that man was rational and would make economic choices based on the monetary reward he gets.

Organizations facing competitive situations,

must have good management labour relation to face competitive challenges.

Conclusion
Scientific management is basically concerned to make Organizations effective & efficient in terms of making profit.

But..
Modern Organizations have several motivations to perform besides making profit

Nothing is constant except change
