Time is always right to do what is right.


Nothing in business is so valuable as time. To be in control of your time , is to be in control of your life.

You may delay, but time will not.


Time is scarcest resource, and unless it is managed, nothing can be managed.

Time management refers to range of skills , tools and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks , projects and goals.

Time management include planning, allocating, setting goals , delegation, analysis of time spent monitoring ,organizing scheduling and prioritizing.

Get organized Protect your time. Set gravitational goals. Goal focus. Work in priority order. Use magical tools to get more out of time. Masters the skills of management. Go with flow.

Recover from bad time habits.

Goals are staring point of effective time management. Dont expect much from time management until youve identified your goals. Goals can be categorized in order of their importance- as they are critical enabling and nice to have. Seek alignment between company , unit and individual goals. Goals should be written in specific terms, time framed, measurable, important, aligned with organizational strategy and challenging and yet achievable. Urgent and relatively unimportant tasks can easily consume time, and that should be spend on critical and enabling goals.

The first step of time management is to understand how you currently spend time you have.

You can accomplish this by keeping an activity log.


It is simpler to analyze an activity log if you label each activity with general category and assign it a goal related priority. The next step after activity analysis is to find cause of time mismanagement. The final step is problem correction. The best way to correct problem is to develop more effective habbits of behavior until it becomes a natural response( habit).

Procrastination has 3 causes. task is unpleasant You are afraid you will fail You dont know where to begin. Dont take new responsibilities without first figuring out whether you have time to complete it. Avoid overloading by consciously recognizing your key goals, delegating to other. Avoid assuming the responsibilities and problems of your subordinates . Coach them and advice them , but dont allow them to put monkey on your back. Avoid needless travel. Meeting can be major time wasters . Do your best to eliminate unnecessary meetings.

if you are overwhelmed With work and your subordinates are not you need to do more delegating. If the tasks you delegate are done poorly or late , you need to become more effective delegator. Effective delegators have several things in common .they are clear about what they want done.( delegate both tedious and stimulating tasks). Dont delegate tasks that are clearly your responsibility. That abdication.

Use face to face meeting when you delegate and monitor the work delegated.

Boss unknowingly create time wasting impediments , when they and their subordinates fail to reach an understanding about goals. When boss fails to give clear directions. When they involve subordinate in fruitless and unnecessary meetings.

If your boss has not clearly stated your personal goals ,ask for a meeting to reach agreement on your goals. Failure to give clear directions to subordinates is a major source of wasted time.

Substantial time is wasted in pointless meetings.


bosses should set the standard for effective meetings. a bottle neck boss create a pinch- point in work flow, causing work to back up.

Personal side of time management begins with goals.


As at work , keep an activity log to record how you actually spend your networking hours. Create more personal time by reducing T.V. viewing , social networking , shopping etc.

Outsource household chores that others can do more cheaply.


Material things absorb time and attention , so get rid of things that add no value. Commitments are an important element of family and community life, periodically review them. Physical fitness will give you stamina and energy allowing things to do longer and with less effort.

Companywide communication, training, product demonstration and team based work can all benefit from video conferencing and web conferencing. Some managers and staff personnel spend many hours trying to produce presentation slides with all right fonts , color , features. company should encourage these people to save time using simpler slides. Work life balance is an important issue for employees . Long workdays, take home assignments , short vacations and travel demands contributes to problem.
