I.Introduction
Why Dimethyl ether(DME)?
DME; Advantages + high cetane number and oxygen content +short molecular chains +volatile organic compound +non-carcinogenic, non-teratogenic, nonmutagenic and non-toxic +tropospheric lifetime of dimethyl ether to be 5.1 days, environmentally friendly
Disadvantages; -Low viscosity of DME -Higher fuel volume -Low boiling point -> injection rate, performance of engines
Objective
Comparison Performance and emission characteristics of engines fueled with DME,DME/diesel blends and neat Diesel fuel
Effect of fuel delivery advance angle on the in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate
Heat Release Rate of Engines with Diesel Fuel and DME/Diesel Blend Fuel
Visible Pollutions -High oxygen content of blend reduces smoke density -Boiling point has an influence on soot formation -DME presents almost smoke-free combustion over the whole speed range compared to neat diesel engine
Comparison of NOx emissions of different weight fractions of DME/ diesel blends and neat Diesel Fuel
Comparison between NOx emissions of the engines fueled with DME and neat diesel
b.HC Emsions
c. CO Emissions
d. CO2 Emissions
CO2 emissions of engines fueled with neat diesel and DME/diesel blend
V. Conclusions
Fuel
delivery advance angle peak in-cylinder pressure, peak HRR, peak PRR, and peak mean gas temperature the more DME fraction lets the more HRR
Smoke,
