Regular Tessellation
A regular tessellation is a tessellation that is made from regular polygons.
Example:

Regular tessellation from hexagon

Regular tessellation from square

Characteristic of Regular Tessellation The tessellation must tile a floor (that goes on forever) with no overlapping or gaps. The tiles must be regular polygons - and all the same. Each vertex must look the same.

and

Non Regular Tessellation

Many tessellation can be made by combining regular and non-regular polygons. In its later development, tessellations can be made by using special shape, which have no common point, and by using shaped with curved lines

Solid Tessellation
A solid tessellation is a tessellation that is made from solid object, like hexagonal, cube, cuboid, etc.
