Cost Savings Potential for Workers Comp

for Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD) Over Low Back Surgery (LBS)

Estimated Costs for Low Back Surgery:

Cost per Surgery approx. $50,000 n Does not include cost of surgical complications n Does not include cost of repeat surgeries n Does not include cost of higher eventual disability rating due to surgery

Total Approximated Costs Related to Surgical Solution

n n

Total costs per surgery: $50,000 Assuming 10 surgical cases, total cost: $500,000*

*This does not take into account surgical complications,

surgical repeats, and increased residual disability rating which significantly drive up the total costs.

Estimated Costs for NSSD

10 Surgical cases reviewed (@ $150/case) for NSSD and accepted = $1,500
n n

2 weeks (8 visits) @ $225/visit = $1,800/case 10 trials = $18,000 Ten trial cases = $19,500

Assuming 30% of Patients Show Response and Continue Treatment:

18 additional visits = $4,050 per person 3 patients @ $4,050 = $12,150 + initial trial $5,850 = $18,000 for total NSSD solution for 3 cases.

Total Savings for 30% Success with NSSD

n

Surgery then required for remaining 7 patients = $350,000 +$18,000 from the successful NSSD cases +$13,650 for failed trials =$381,650 Total costs for all ten patients. Saves $118,350 23.7% of costs saved.

Assuming 70% Progress to Full NSSD Treatment Program:

n

7 cases progress to full treatment program. 7 Full programs of care: $42,000 3 Failed trials $5,850 3 Surgeries for failed trials: $150,000 Total cost of care for ten patients: $197,850 Savings = $302,150 60% of costs saved

Assuming a 50% NSSD Success Scenario:

n

Five full NSSD successful cases: $30,000 Five failed Trials: $9,750 Five Surgeries: $250,000 Total Costs: $289,750 Savings: $210,250 42% of costs saved

Savings are Assured in Almost Every Scenario!

Pre and Post MRIs of Valley Spinal Decompression Center Patients

52 year old male patient who was an electrical engineer with 7/10 low back and left calf pain. He had physical therapy treatments and medications with no success. His PreMRI indicated a 5mm x 13mm x 8mm (ap x tr x cc) L4/5 disc extrusion with displacement and impingement of the L5 nerve root; moderate facet degeneration and ligamentum flavum redundancy. At the end of care (7 weeks later) the patients pain level at its highest was a 1/10 about 10% of the time. See the circled areas BEFORE and AFTER.

These are MRIs of our patient who reported to our offices with a 16 mm L5/S1 disc extrusion and was treated on the DRX9000. See the circled areas BEFORE and AFTER.
Dennis F. began his care with Dr. Shanahoff D.C., with pain at a level of 8 to 10 on a 10 scale. Besides severe low back pain he had pain and numbness radiating down his leg to his right foot. He was developing symptoms in his left leg and foot. Large doses of SEE THE REMARKABLE RESULTS TO THE LEFT. After 8 weeks of treatment with Non Surgical Spinal Decompression, his pain level was a 2 out of 10 without any pain medication. His post MRI was done showing the remarkable improvement in what had been a severe disc extrusion.
