PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
In PM overhauling of equipments are generally done at fixed time interval basis. The basis of jobs and frequency are planners judgment, past experience and equipment, manufacturers recommendation. PM programmes are more suitable for industries having large number of similar equipments.

PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE
In PdM overhauling of equipments are taken on the basis of Condition monitoring, only before the equipment is going to fail or deteriorate. In PdM good amount of simple and high-tech monitoring tools are used at shorter intervals or continuous. Suitable for heavy, costly and more critical equipments where overhauling / repairs requires more down time such as turbines, heavy get-sets, big mill stand and furnace.

PROACTIVE MAINTENANCE
Proactive maint. Concentrate on monitoring correction of root causes to equipment failure. The PrM strategy is also designed too extend the useful life of the equipment.
