DOMINO CLUSTERING

Whats Clustering
Data entered in server A goes to Server B Update is sent by Server As cluster replicator Data entered in Server B goes to Server A Update is sent by Server Bs cluster replicator One-way push of data write from one server to another

Benefit of Domino Cluster

High availability of important database When a hardware or software problem occurs, clustered servers redirect database open requests to other servers in the cluster, to provide users with uninterrupted access to important databases. This process is called failover. Data Synchronization

Cluster replication ensures that all changes, whether to databases or to the cluster membership itself, are immediately passed to other databases or servers in the cluster. Thus, databases are continuously synchronized to provide high availability of information. Workload balancing
When users try to access databases on heavily used servers, Lotus Domino can redirect the user requests to other cluster servers that aren't as busy, so that the workload is evenly distributed across the cluster.

Component of Domino clustering

1. Cluster manager Not a visible task How busy are those servers Activating workload balancing Managing and logging failover Directing client connections

2. Cluster replicator (clrepl) Cluster Replicator task CLREPL Lotus supports up to 6 servers in a cluster 3. Cluster database directory (cldbdir) Creates and maintains the cluster database directory cldbdir.nsf CLDBDir.Nsf is replicated throughout the cluster

4. Cluster Administrator Not a visible task Adds CLRepl, CLDBDir to the servertasks when a server is added to a cluster Starts the clustering tasks on the server
