EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
This case study is about John Gardner, Systems Engineering Manager at Medrad, a medical devices company.. POSITIVE POINTS : He was recognized as someone with a high degree of technical skills and an ability to get things done. Focused on the outcomes of the work. Really appreciated by the senior management for his quality of work delivered.

PROBLEMS FACED BY THE MANAGEMENT DUE TO JOHN GARDENER

Management was frustrated with johns methods of dealing with people. John believed that task completion was much more important than peoples feelings. Then john even received a letter saying that if He didnt change his style, he might be fired. Main problem observed by the management was his his interpersonal style despite of delivering such amazing results. He was very low on empathy towards other and this was the point were he lacked.

EFFORTS TAKEN BY MANAGEMENT TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM

Management offered him the opportunity to participate in an Emotional Intelligence training and coaching program from the Institute for Health and Human Potential (IHHP). John saw emotional intelligence as a waste of time and was least interested in it.

IMPACT AFTER THE EI TRAINING

he rose in the ranks at the company. It made him more aware of his impact on others and identified some gaps he needed to address. Learning to react more skilfully when he was frustrated. At work, he began to make big changes in relationships that were previously challenging. It helped him understand how to apply the techniques in his life both in business and at home.

RESULTS IN HIS CAREER WERE IMPRESIVE

Management asked him to help in sales and marketing because of my people skills he have.. Individuals were waiting to be mentored by him. Improving EQ skills has even allowed John to be a better coach on the soccer field. John has evolved into an EQ coach to others in the company. Not only allows him to be a better leader in business; it also improves his relationships at home.

CONCLUSION
A. Know your positive aspects as well as negative and maintain a balance between them. B. Remember at any point of your life scope of improvement is always there as nobody is perfect and lack in something or the other C. And this how with the help of management as well as john personal efforts and his will to work on his problem benefited the management as well as earned john respect and appreciation for what he is and to bring out the real john outside.
