On a piece of foolscap paper, copy the following: 1. Refer to the excerpt on p 15 16 2. Questions: (i) What do you think of Rajam? Refer closely to the passage to support your answer. (ii) How would you describe Swamis thoughts about his friend Rajam?

Step-by-step guide on how to answer passagebased question


(i) Read the questions first. Highlight the key words in the question.
(i) Read the passage thoroughly and look out for: - Plot (what happens in the passage?) - Who are the characters? - Look at the body language of the characters. - Look at the emotions of the characters as expressed through their words and thoughts. - Look at where the story is set and the mood/atmosphere of the scene. - Any repeated words or ideas? - Look for any interesting diction (word choice) used to describe the character or situation. **Annotate (highlight/write notes) at the side as you do the above
