SAFETY
1. Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. 2. The bolt does not automatically remain to the rear
when the rifle or magazine is empty. Always physically check chamber to make certain rifle is empty. Rifle must not be fired without both the midlock and rear lock pins firmly in place. (Serious injury or death may result) This rifle must not be fired without the muzzle break firmly in place on the barrel. (Overstress and critical parts breakage may result)

SAFETY (CONT.)
5. Always control the muzzle of the firearm, keeping it
pointed in a safe direction. With the XM107 there is some danger standing to the side of the muzzle due to blow by of hot, expanding gases from the muzzle break. This weapon generates harmful levels of noise when firing. Hearing protection must be worn when firing this weapon. When disassembling spring loaded parts, point components away from face/eyes to avoid possible injury if parts fly free. Buffer and buffer spring are under heavy spring tension. Use caution when removing.

Carefully remove buffer and buffer spring. (view images) Remove bolt from bolt carrier. (view image) Collapse barrel into carrying configuration. (view image)

EXTRACTOR REMOVAL
Removal of extractor is not part of field stripping. The removal of the extractor is only necessary for repair because of component failure or excessive buildup of dirt / brass residue.

EXTRACTOR REMOVAL (cont.)

To remove the extractor, depress the extractor plunger by inserting 1/16 pin punch or the end of a paper clip through the extractor hole while simultaneously sliding the extractor toward the firing pinhole. The extractor, extractor spring, and extractor plunger can now be removed. NOTE: Be careful not to lose the spring and plunger. (view images)

EXTRACTOR REPLACEMENT
Place extractor spring into bolt face. Place extractor plunger over extractor
spring. Depress extractor plunger. Slide extractor over extractor plunger. Ensure extractor is seated over extractor plunger. (view images)

MAINTINANCE
PMCS will be conducted IAW the Operator TM. The XM107 should be cleaned ASAP after firing and
after being exposed to field conditions.

Under extreme climatic and combat conditions, it may

be necessary to clean and lubricate more frequently.

Under ideal conditions where the gun is stored in a

clean, dry place, it may be only necessary to inspect the XM107 periodically.

Do not store XM107 in hard case for long periods of

time. (store in open rack)

ASSEMBLY
1. Replace buffer spring and buffer. (view images) 2. Replace bolt into bolt carrier. (view images) 3. Replace bolt and bolt carrier into lower receiver. 4. Extend barrel in upper receiver and lock in place with barrel key. 5. Replace upper receiver onto lower receiver by taking front hook on upper receiver and hooking it into front hook pin on lower receiver. (view images)

ASSEMBLY (cont.)
6. Pull bolt back approx. 2in. so upper receiver can seat correctly onto lower receiver. 7. Ride bolt forward (ensure bolt is seated). 8. Replace midlock pin and rear lock pin (either direction). 9. Conduct function check. a) pull bolt to rear b) ride bolt forward c) place selector switch on safe d) place selector switch on fire

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The XM107 is a semi-automatic, air-cooled, box magazine-fed rifle chambered for .50 caliber ammunition. This rifle operates by means of the short recoil principle rather than gas.

CYCLE OF OPERATION
THE CYCLE OF OPERATION FOR THE XM107 RIFLE IS BROKEN DOWN INTO 8 BASIC STEPS (more than one step can occur simultaneously) 1) Feeding 2) Chambering 3) Locking 4) Firing 5) Unlocking 6) Cocking 7) Extracting 8) Ejecting

XM107 OPERATION
LOAD MAGAZINE
*Load no more than 9 rounds per magazine due to:

INSERTING MAGAZINE INTO WEAPON

*Ensure the safety is in the safe position and that the chamber is clear of any obstructions. (view images) CHAMBERING A ROUND * With the recoil pad firmly on your shoulder, the muzzle pointed down range, pull the bolt handle all the way to the rear and release bolt handle. This will chamber the first round.

XM107 OPERATION (cont.)

UNLOADING WEAPON WARNING: The bolt does not automatically lock to the rear when the weapon or the magazine is empty. 1. Place the weapon on safe, press the magazine catch forward and remove magazine. 2. Pull the bolt handle to the rear. This will eject any cartridge still chambered. 3. After the weapon is unloaded and the bolt handle to the rear, look into chamber to ensure breech and chamber are empty. 4. Ride bolt forward.

XM107 OPERATION (cont.)

UNLOADING THE MAGAZINE * Only remove ammunition from magazine with your hands. IMMEDIATE ACTION * Apply SPORTS:
SLAP, PULL, OBSERVE, RELEASE, TAP, SQUEEZE

REMEDIAL ACTION * Remedial action is the continuing effort to determine the cause for a stoppage or malfunction and to try and clear the stoppage once it has been identified.

XM107 OPERATION (cont.)

The prone firing position is the recommended position for firing the XM107. Because the rifle is recoil operated, the shooter must be positioned squarely behind the weapon, with the recoil pad firmly against the shoulder. Anything less may result in injury, discomfort, or failure of the weapon to cycle correctly.

BREAK

XM107 IRON SIGHT

The rear and front iron sight are primarily to be used for backup when the optical sights are damaged or not available. They flip up for use if the scope is not mounted. Aiming is accomplished by placing the front sight post on the target and aligning the front sight post and the target in the center of the rear aperture. ( Front sight post should be center mass of target)

XM107 IRON SIGHT (cont.)

The rear sight aperture is raised and lowered to the desired elevation position using the Elevation knob (located on top of rear sight). The left knob is used to adjust windage. A range plate has been established that corresponds to the ballistics of the cartridge and is adjustable to accommodate variations in environmental conditions that affect elevation.

ZERO PROCEDURE FOR IRON SIGHT

You will assume a prone supported firing

position 100 meters from zero target. Align index line with 100 meter range line on the scale. Align Windage index line with the Windage zero line on base of iron sight. Obtain proper sight picture. Fire 1 round at center mass of zero target.

ZEROING IRON SIGHT (cont.)

Note the strike of the round and make windage
and elevation adjustments accordingly. Continue firing a round making windage and elevation adjustments as necessary until the shot group is center mass of target. NOTE: One click of Elevation moves the strike of the round 1.6in. at 100m. One click of Windage moves the strike of the round .75in at 100m.

ZEROING IRON SIGHT (cont.)

Once the shot group is center mass, loosen the
torx screw on the Elevation scale (using torx wrench), slide the Elevation scale until the 100m range index line is aligned with the index line on the peep sight, tighten the screw. Confirm zero by setting the Elevation scale to the 500m index line and fire a round at a 500m target.

MOUNTING
WARNING: if the scope is mounted to far to the rear, the eye piece can injure the shooters brow. 1. The daylight scope is manufacture mounted with rear ring mount on slot 4 of the rail torqued to 65in. lb. 2. When removing the ring mount from the rail use a in. wrench (counterclockwise). 3. Always tighten the ring mount nuts using only the preset 65in. lb. T-handle torque wrench.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

OBTAINING PROPER EYE RELIEF

1. Mount the scope with the rear mount on slot 4 of rail. 2. Assume a prone firing position. 3. Set the scope on the highest magnification. 4. Slowly move scope forward or rearward (if necessary) on the rail until you can see a full field of view. 5. Once full field of view is obtained, tighten ring mounts to 65in. lb.. using T-handle torque wrench. 6. You have obtained a rough sight relief.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

OBTAINING PROPER EYE RELIEF

7. To achieve optimum eye relief, loosen the optic rings and slide the telescope tube forward and backward until you obtain a full field of view. 8. When you are satisfied, tighten ring screws evenly in a crisscross manner. 9. During tightening, ensure that the vertical hair of the reticule aligns with the vertical axis of the weapon.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

Focusing is accomplished by turning eye
piece all the way left or right. Then turn eye piece back until you have a clear / sharp picture. Parallax is used for focusing the reticule only.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

ZEROING PROCEDURES
1. You will assume a prone supported firing position 100m from target. 2. Remove Windage & Elevation turret caps. 3. Turn the Elevation turret clockwise until it bottoms out. 4. Once at the bottom turn the Elevation turret counterclockwise 34min. or 136 clicks. 5. Turn the Windage turret clockwise until it bottoms out. Once at the bottom, turn the Windage turret 52min. or 208 clicks.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

ZEROING PROCEDURES (cont.)
6. Fire 1 round at the center of the target. 7. Note the strike of the rounds and make windage and elevation adjustments accordingly. 8. Continue to fire 1 round at target making windage and elevation adjustments as necessary until the round is center mass on zero target.
NOTE: Each click of Windage or Elevation equals MOA. Therefore at 100m 1 MOA equals approx. 1in.

XM107 DAY OPTIC (cont.)

ZEROING PROCEDURES (cont.)
9. Once the round / shot group is center mass, loosen the screws on the Windage and Elevation turrets (using 1/16 allen wrench). 10. Turn the Elevation turret to the index line marked 1 and tighten screws. 11. Turn the Windage turret until the 0 on the Windage turret is lined up with the Windage index line then tighten the screws. 12. After zeroing at 100m, confirm by setting the Elevation turret to 500m and firing 1 round at a 500m target.
