BSM Curriculum
The BSM training curriculum is the list of courses that outlines the training for BSM jobs. The training courses will provide an understanding of the BSM program, the DLA re-engineered processes, and the new applications. The curriculum builds on concepts from previous courses, so BSM training should be taken in the proper sequence.
Introduction to BSM (100 Level) Overview of the BSM Program Process (300 Level) High level review of DLAs core processes Navigation (200 Level) Hands-on practice navigating BSM applications Job-based (400 Level) Hands-on training and detailed instructions on how to use the BSM systems Post Go-Live (500 Level) As required

BSM Curriculum
In the Introduction to BSM and Process courses, you learned about the BSM Program and how DLA operates its supply chain business The purpose of this course is to introduce you to Business Warehouse (BW) and demonstrate functional concepts as well as provide an overview of how to access and use Business Warehouse via the BSM Portal Remember, you will not be an expert after this course. The purpose is to familiarize you with how to navigate in Business Warehouse so that you can use these concepts in your job
Course Objective Upon completion of this course and when given access to the Business Warehouse system with courseprovided documentation, the student will be able to run a BW APA Report in order to successfully obtain data for his User ID.
Enabling Objectives
When given a screen shot of the BSM Portal Home Page, the student will be able to correctly identify the various sections of the page as specified by the participant guide. When given the Key Terminology Review Sheet, the student will be able to correctly match all terms and their definitions as specified by the instructors Review Sheet Key. When set up in pairs, the students will be able to explain to each other what the purpose of the Demand Planning APA report is as specified by the APA Report Job Aid. When given access to the BW system with course-provided documentation, the student will be able to:
Open the BW system Open the Demand Planning APA Report variables screen Enter all mandatory variables such as Start Date, Lag, and Demand Planner Enter any optional variables as decided upon by the student Check that all variable entries have been accepted by the system Execute/Run the report

Business Warehouse Key Terminology Characteristics = Criterion, such as material group, Free Characteristics = Characteristic not currently Key Figures = Numeric values or quantitative data
such as Order Quantity and Selling Price
Example: NIIN 000044487 is an insulator with a unit cost of $1.91. The NIIN 000044487 is a Characteristic and the unit cost of $1.91 is a Key Figure.
NIIN, document type, fiscal year, used to define a report displayed in the results area of the report but are available (free) to be added to the report results area

Filter
OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) = Used to analyze data and customize report

InfoSet
MultiProviders allow for reporting across multiple InfoProviders InfoSets join like data originating from one table or multiple joined tables
InfoCube
InfoCubes are groupings of summarized data from the ODS and specific to a single subject area, i.e., Planning
Data Source
Data is extracted and loaded from SAP R/3 to BW via standard extracts. Data from other source systems (DPACS, Manugistics and LMARS) is loaded into BW via flat files

Demand Planning is the measure of the effectiveness of identifying and planning demand requirements. It is the quality of the forecasting results APA calculation is the difference between the actual demand and the forecast demand divided by the forecast demand. The APA only looks at one month of demand data
